New Around Here
I currently am running Ver. 3.0.0.4.380_1842 which is several versions old. If I update my firmware to the newest will I lose all my manual entries such as MAC addresses for MAC filtering, IP reservations, and port forwarding assignments? I have a lot of entries. Also, can I use a restore configuration file from an older firmware version to restore the settings to a newly updated firmware?

The last time I upgraded my firmware I could not find my client list or other manual entries mentioned above so I reset the router and re-entered them. Now I find that it may have been because I was using Firefox and not some other browser. I just lost those items again using Firefox but found they were still there when I use IE.

Thanks
Dean

You are going from a 380 firmware to another 380 firmware so you may be fine.

Not recommended as the new firmware may have entries that are slightly different/changed from the old config file.

Thank you, KevTech. Your answers have prompted a third question. Can I go backwards in firmware if I'm not happy with the new upgrade?

Read the notes on the firmware carefully. Starting with 3.0.0.4.380.3264 for my RT-AC68U you can not go back to older firmware (unless you stick the router into rescue mode). See the thread at the top of this forum.

"ASUS has been dedicated to cooperate with third party developers to come up with more innovative features. To comply with regulatory amendments, we have modified firmware verification rule to ensure better firmware quality. This version is not compatible with all previously released ASUS firmware and uncertified third party firmware."
Anytime I have upgraded firmware it has kept all of my settings. I've haven't done a reset since 380.59 version of Merlin's firmware and am on 380.61 now.
