Hello, I am experiencing a very odd and annoying behavior of my router and was wondering if anyone else had a similar issue.

Basically, anytime I try to transfer data from my both laptops to my NAS, after a few minutes the wireless connection freezes, the laptop disconnects, all the devices in the house have no more wireless connection and the only thing I can do is to reboot the router !

P.S.
I'm on the latest firmware.

Tia.

It would be nice to know more details about the hardware, environment and configuration used...

So, list of the hardware:

1) RT-AC68U - firmware v380.4164

2) Dell Latitude E6420 - WiFi Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN

3) Dell Latitude E6430 - WiFi Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN

4) Synology 212j

Now, if I do the transfer via cable (from my laptop to the router), I have no issues at all.

Also, I've borrowed a DSL-AC68U from my neighbour and I have no problems whatsoever, no lost of wireless, it works a treat !

Tried factory reset of router? Using Merlin or stock firmware? An other feature enabled?

Tried two factory resets as well... Tried also Merlin latest firmware, and exactly same behaviour, so odd...

I've tried with both bands enabled, then with 2.4 GHz only and lastly with 5 GHz only and always the same strange behaviour...

As for the wireless settings, I left the default ones as I did with the DSL-AC68U which worked absolutely fine... Apart from this specific case, the router seems to work okay, really strange...

Shot in the dark. Possibly overheating? If you still are on Merlin, see what the CPU and radio temps are. I've found a small usb fan brings the temp down to under 120F. I've heard of individual units having poorly attached heat sinks which makes them prone to overheating.

Another idea. When you did a factory reset, did you clear NVRAM? I'm not sure if doing the factory reset through the GUI does this.
