One thing I am waiting for them to fix is if I restart my 87u which feeds 2-66us and 1- 68u. The 68u upsets things until I manually power cycle it. It almost acts like a jammer where I can only access the repeater i'm attached to but once I cycle I can instantly see all my other repeaters. Its been like this the last 3 firmwares. You get no internet connection either until its power cycled. Anyone else see anything like this?

For me it worked the same in several of the latest versions.

I have testet last weekend the latest HGG and Merlin on my ac87 and my AC68 (repeater) is going in a reboot loop. I think thats a problem with the latest 2-3 firmware for the AC87. I will test this weekend the latest Asus Firmware for the AC68. The reboot problem should be solved in this firmware. Anybody else the problem.

I never saw the reboot loop although this fw does mention fixing it. I'm getting that jammer like situation with my 68 and that lock out problem if I use manual settings on initial setup (after factory reset) of both 66u and 68u in repeater mode. Prior to the past several fw's they worked pretty well.

I spoke too soon on the reboot but with a 66u in Wireless Router mode I updated the second 66u and had the reboot pop up like every 30 seconds or so it would reboot. When I firmware update these routers I do it as such. Update fw reboot then hit the reset button for 10 seconds. I then go in do a quick setup to get in update the fw a second time let it reboot and hit reset button for 10 seconds. On the second 66 I only did the first reset as I wanted to double check the USB Aircard issue. That was when I got the reboot loop. So hit reset button for 10 seconds loaded fw a second time and reset and problem went away. A number of people have mentioned doing the 2 fw loads I started doing it as it really wouldn't hurt anything.

3.0.0.4.380.1842 was the last working firmware for my AC68U. All firmwares after that just crash after 1-2 days. So whenever I type any website address in the top address bar of any browser on any of my wireless or wired device, it redirects me to router.asus.com.
It needs to be power cycled for things to work for another day and then the same problem. I have 3 RT-AC68u. The 2 and 1/2 year old one is affected but the other two purchased early this year are not having this problem. Maybe a particular hardware revision is affected.

So the problematic router is on 3.0.0.4.380.1842 while the two newer ones are on 3.0.0.4.380.3831

Now all the three routers are having issue. After few days only Router homepage opens. Crappy firmware.

Im gonna add my .02cents.. Fashed and reset to factory both an AC68 and AC66 with this version of the firmware ... Iv seen instances where the AC66 gets "stupid" as an AP and cant resolve out of a paper bag, and doesnt want to connect to other wireless devices on the same network, even though anything connected via the 68 is fine... The fix, is rebooting the ac68 router again and then rebooting the ac66 router.. Also this new firmware does not come back from power outages gracefully... had to go reboot devices to reobtain a DHCP address (on clients).. and reboot the AP before it would let any devices connect out to the internet through the 68... My network was relatively stable before this update.. As an aside.. it seems to be a bit more stable maintaining a wireless extenderconnection to a non Asus router that uses the AC66 ap as the internet connection... (Securifi Almond + as a Wireless Extender to AC66 AP...to AC68 connected to DSL...)

What is with the Reapetermode in this Version. Is he working or make it problems?

I think this version (3.0.0.4.380_3831) finally solves Repeater mode problems that have plagued most of the previous version.

2x AC68U, 1 main router, the other in repeater mode and they have been working perfectly so far since putting on the new firmware.

Firmware 3.0.0.4.380_3831 has converted all my 3 RT-AC68Us into $30 routers which need to be rebooted every 3 days. They just stop serving internet to their clients after 2 days. All the three 68Us are connected to three different ADSL modems (TP-Link TD8816, TP-Link TD8817 and Asus ADSL 2 modem). All are kept in bridge mode and 68Us dial PPPoE connection. When router home page redirection occurs, I can see that each 68U has connected to my ISP with dynamic IPv4. But none of my wifi or LAN devices are able to browse the internet and every webpage redirects to router.asus.com. Reboot fixes the problem for 2 days.

3.0.0.4.380.1842 is the only last firmware which works flawlessly.

Thank You for the info.
I hope the repeater Mode (AC68) is also working with my AC87U (main router) on the 5GHZ.

I will testet it tomorow.

Have you tried my suggestions in the other thread?

I have now the latest FW (Merlin 380.61) on my AC68U and the Repeater Mode is now working.

But i have a problem to connect the AC68 in Repeater Mode (5GHZ) with the latest AC87 FW (Quantenne FW 37.4.0.56)
When i take a older FW for AC87 with (Quantenne FW 37.3.0.50) the AC68 is connecting.

I think there is a problem with the newest Quantenne driver on the AC87. MU MIMO support.

@RMerlin Maybe you can make a AC87 380.61 FW with older Quantenne FW 37.3.0.50 for testing if the Repeater Mode is working. We know that the failure comes from Quantenne.

Merlin does not hack into the closed source drivers...

But merlin can take the older Quantenne FW and can copy to the latest Firmware. Hggomes make it.

He might... Could be quite challenging since it other features or mechanisms also have a relationship with a driver. It's hardly ever that simple to just copy it back. But let's see if Merlin has some insights (and time)

It's not just a matter of changing a single file. It's not worth the time and effort, trying to (maybe) fix something just to break everything else fixed by the newer version. I simply don't mess with anything related to wifi anymore.

The firmware version numbered 3.0.0.4.380.3831 has been available from asus.com for two months. Yet, sometime last week, the release date changed to 2016-09-08. This is an error, right? I wonder how this happened.
