Which spare router should I buy if I need to return this one?

Is your Comcast device a Modem/Router or a Modem only?
I use my ISP provided Modem/Router as a backup in case I need to unplug temporary my own router.

Just modem. I got spare Linksys EA7500 from our network team this morning. Now I can send my ASUS back.

This seems to be a common problem with Asus routers. I have the AC86u and running firmware 3.0.0.4.386 45956, and have the same WiFi speed drop sitting close to the router. With wired connection to the router, speed is fine tho.


I'm thinking of interference issue, such as electronic devices placed closed to the router.

The Netgear R7800 which I'm using in the hall never slows down.
