Hello to everyone.

First of all, I would like to thank Eric (RMerlin) for his dedication to give us a better router experience. The reason I choose Asus RT (and ac87u + cheapo modem) instead of another brand or Asus DSL, is just because of his existence.

Said that, I would also like to thank the members of this forum whom are constantly helping the guys like me, who loves learning from other's knowleadge and support.

After one month of using my beloved 87U, I've been able to solve all the issues by myself thanks to hours and hours of reading this amazing forum. (ie: services-start script for perm ARP entry to enable wol through wan, services-stop script for sticking overclocking, media server not showing in 5G due tu IPTV settings, and much much more things I was able to solve thanks to your silent but invaluable help)

But there is still one I couldn't figure out, and that's why I'm asking you guys for help:

* The 5G band lets me choose only from 36 to 136 control channels, and my two older tv's only "sees" channels from 149 to 161 on that band, which I use to stream 1080p content to them (otherwise I have many freezes using 2.4)

¿Can you point me in the right direction for enabling at least channel 161 on my router? If it's scriptable to do it in every startup, it would be even greater.

If this info helps, my unit has been bought in Italy, but I'm using it in Argentina (please excuse my primitive English)

Kindest regards and thanks in advance for your help!!!

Thanks for your reply Colin.

Anyway then to change router's region or bypass that limitation since I'm not in the EU but in SouthAmerica?

Regards.

Sad, very sad news...

Hi once again.

I'm smashing my head to solve this issue, really need to use 5G for streaming to my kid's bedroom and mine (2.4G gets contstant freezes, on the least crowded channel, tried 20 and 40 mhz, no luck neither)

Is it possible to change region or bypass region limitation on older Merlin's Revision? In that case anyone knows which is the last version that allowed that?

Kindest regards and thanks in advance!

Are you sure that your TV's can't see channels 36-48? Those channels are valid throughout the world and don't require DFS so everything should support them.

ASUS regionally locked their routers . FCC was on their back and they didn't want to get sued. Further discussion about bypassing this restriction will result in a forum administrator stepping in. Sounds like you did a lot of research before posting on this forum. I'm sure you stumbled upon this same question numerous times.

Thanks for your support and your hint. I will continue to try to solve my problem without breaking any rules.

I guess the approach to change my wi-fi dongle adapter and/or optimize router settings is the only way to go.

Regards and thanks once again

Excuse my double post, I have one question regarding extension channel:

Is it normal I can only select "auto" when it comes to extension channel? Is it possible my devices "see" control channel but does not "see" extension one?

I made a quick test the first time I set up the router and inssider showed the extension channel as the transmiting channel instead of the selected control channel? Is that possible or I am misunderstanding something here?

Regards once again for helping and teaching me.
