So I flashed the last 384.18 firmware. Now I have the 160MHz option. I thought that was reserved for AX models?

The setting is not valid as hardware doesn't support.
Have tried to enable it and save but become unchecked again.
:)

@RMerlin is this a big in the latest 384.18 firmware or something else is happening?

I don't know, I have never been able to reproduce it on my RT-AC88U, and looking at the code I can't see how this could even happen - the code very explicitly look for a specific flag for 160 MHz support. The only possible explanation would be that flag getting incorrectly set within the closed source code, but that still won't explain why I can't reproduce it here.

Wait, could it be that you have been reading The Secret and visualizing your AC88U being able to use the 160 MHz option? That could explain it...

It seems to be related to the later revision silicon
I have a release RT-AC88U and a Late revision and have just noticed it myself
on 384.19 Final

wl0: Mar 12 2020 14:48:02 version 10.10.69.69037 (r785059) FWID 01-1684a258
this one shows only 80 Mhz and is missing channels 120,124,128 still for 16 total channels

wl0: Mar 12 2020 09:35:12 version 10.10.122.303 (r666429) FWID 01-5fb509f6
this one shows an option to enable 160 Mhz and now has 120,124,128 with a 10 min wait on use for 19 total channels

Its actually connecting at 160 Mhz also

Late Revision Channels
36,40,44,48,52,56,60,64
100,104,108,112,116,120,124,128,132,136,140

First Revision Channels
36,40,44,48,52,56,60,64
100,104,108,112,116,132,136,140

Still Missing
120,124,128

The DFS with a 10 min wait work just fine they just dont come up for 10mins after boot

I checked on Asus 386 that also has 160 Mhz and all channels so its been added in by asus
about time tbh

not sure why they havnt added it to the first revision hardware

Both are UK Sourced stock with a UK plug from amazon.co.uk but are region coded EU DE

Even if the wireless chip (BCM4366) supports it, I am not sure it will be available in all countries. there is no reason to provide enhanced functions for old models. This is not good for a company. Sometimes they just release a new product, like RT-AC86U and GT-AC2900 with the same hardware and the GT-AC2900 supporting 160MHz.

I think asus should have got a 160MHz driver, but did not disable it on some old models. Now, they may have disabled.

Exactly the same on my AC88U running the vanilla firmware. I can enable 160 MHz channel width and according to the wireless log it's correctly set, although I don't think I have the necessary hardware in any of my clients to use it.

I compiled a new build yesterday for my RT-AC88U's

The late revision with BCM4366E is 100% working with 160MHz on AC9560/AC9260/AX-200
the release revision with BCM4366 doesnt show 160MHz as an option and is still missing 120,124,128 (Asus related not merlin..)
