I just went through a very frustrating experience with this new router. My old Asus RT-AC68U had started to behave oddly - losing internet or just plain locking up. So I backed up the configuration and restored to a new RT-AX58U. This whole process worked great, but one device that was connected to one of the four LAN ports wouldn't get an IP address. I spent way too much time trying various fixes until I finally figured out that the Ethernet cable that I was using all this time was a "crossover cable". The RT-AC68U and *many* other routers had been fine with this, but not the new RT-AX58U(!) After I exchanged the crossover cable for a regular one, all was well.
Is there a software option that would permit the RT-AX58U to accept a crossover cable (if I wanted to use it in a pinch)? Is there a reason why Asus would change the switch hardware so that it behaves differently from the many ASUS routers I have used in the past?
Thanks!
