So idk what to do anymore is 2019 devices considered legacy devices????

Isn't Wi-Fi 7 backwards compatible
My Nvidia Shield Pro will only only only connect to the 2.4 Ghz_Iot

On the other 2.4 Ghz it connects but disconnects seconds after

On the 5Ghz says connecting then after trying for several seconds it says Couldn't find Asus 5Ghz, I'm like wtf you mean you can't find it....

Check out a screenshot of the router wireless settings....

My 2019 Shields don't have a problem with my AX router. My 5 GHz SSID is set to 80 MHz and WPA2/WPA3.

Well I'll be damn it worked thought Wi-Fi 7 was backward compatible ugh now I wanna get rid of Shield Tv
It's a problem with the shield with the wifi that has been dragging on since it went on sale. And now with wifi 7 it doesn't connect at all. I have 2.4ghz devices from more than 10 years ago and they work without problem.

In past conversations - @RMerlin has one of those boxes...

He might have some additional insight...

I'm gonna have to make a Iot network with of course WiFi 7 off just for the damn shield because I want to keep Wi-Fi 7 on

I need to have the router that the Silicon Dust HDhomerun uses (media bridge) on the IoT network here. Along with another dedicated router. Plenty of speed on 2.4GHz. for those clients, and I don't have to turn off wifi-7 on my main network. The Apple TV's are fine on the main network.

I've read about some problems that the NVIDIA Shield Pro has connecting using WPA3. Remember that if your MLO includes the 6GHz. band, your router will force all clients of that MLO network to use WPA3 on all bands in the MLO network. This is most likely one of the reasons for Asus to provide a default IoT network. Just guessing here, but this may be a factor for you. I'm sure that it is for me.

My 2019 Shield Pro only connects to WPA2 networks, not WPA2/WPA3 or WPA3. In fact, none of my Android TV devices support WPA3. I had to create a separate IoT network with WPA2 just to connect the Shield.

Same bro since I wanted to keep Wi-Fi 7 on the 2.4, 5 and 6 Ghz I had to use the Iot for the shield, funny that other stuff like Ring cams are fine being on WiFi 7 on

Yea I don't understand why so many Android TV products don't accept WPA3. Apple and Samsung Tizen have no problem.

Old software stack, and often even older/cheaper wifi chip. Manufacturers go for the cheapest when it comes to implementing Wifi support in devices other than a computer of a mobile phone.

The Nvidia Shield TV long predates the existance of WPA3.

Yep - one thing with the Android based devices is the baseline android version - I've got an onn4k Google TV dongle in the guestroom, and it's based on Android 12 - it's 11ac on the radio side (realtek) and it can handle WPA2/3 Mixed...
