RT-N66R Merlin compatibility

I read that the ASUS N66R is no longer "officially supported", but will the latest Merlin firmware still work? I am new to this, but I gotta do something about my son's PS4 killing our bandwidth and this was recommended. I have a 200/20 connection and while he's online we can't even watch our IPtv feeds. As soon as he turns off the game we are good to go. Can anybody help? I've never used a custom fw on a router.

Use John's fork of Merlin's firmware. It's actively supported for the RT-N66R and has a working QoS implementation.
