Hello,

Been reading this forum for a while. My RT-N66U came in today. I loaded Merlin 3.0.0.4.246.19b on it. Everything went fine. But after I changed authentication from HTTP to HTTPS, I can no longer access the router. The router still responds to ping though, but when I punch in its address in the browser (either http or https), it's unable to connect. How so?

Gonna have to restore it to factory settings now as I can't find any other way to login.

Thanks!

Must have been a port number issue. I tried it with the standard https ports (443), but wasn't getting through. The firmware must have defaulted to another one and I didn't notice which one. All good now.

The default https port is 8443. 443 is reserved for AiCloud.

Thanks.

What if I'm not using AiCloud? Is there any harm in using port 443 for HTTPS?

Thanks.

If you keep AiCloud disabled it should work, but I cannot guarantee it. Some firewall rules might not be set correctly if you try to use the same port as AiCloud.

Thanks.

No. But as Merlin said, do not use port 443 when AIcloud is enabled bcuz this will cause errors.

@prism break

I guess you mean port forwarding to a specific port:confused:
