RT-N66U remote access by ddns

Hello,

Working with new ISP. VODAFONE Fiber. Automatic IP with VLAN 100 tagging.

Latest Merlin build on RT-N66U. ( It was working fine with last ISP with VLAN 10 tagging and PPPoE )

Been using my ddns address to remote access a port forwarded device.

The problem is don't get connection several times a day and logs don' show nothing. No connection drops.

It looks like the connection sleeps and after 1 minute or so it comes back other times i takes like 10 minutes do come back ?

The ip address is the same. It doesn't change.

How can i see/log what is killing (sleeping?) my connection ?

OK, the problem is NOT solved.

I've made a simpler way to put this:

I've enabled the admin page to be accessible from outside.

When this timeout/freeze is happening even the admin page is not working.

How can i log this ?

RMerlin can you point me to a possible solution ? Normal log doesn't show nothing.




Is there a "Keep alive" option as in PPP0e connection ? (using Automatic DHCP )

To access the settings of RT-N66U, reconnect to the wireless network and use the updated IP address and port number."

Then after some minutes i could get back in as normal but logs don't show nothing. It's like nothing happened.

Could this be a faulty unit ?

Yesterday i was trying other firmwares and sometimes after changing some parameters ( like applying VLAN 100 ) it lost LAN ping connectivity. Had to reflash same firmware or reset it to get connectivity.

I'm getting frustrated with this unit.

Check the router's uptime, you will see if the issue was that the router crashed and rebooted.

Try disabling HW acceleration, under LAN -> Switch. Some ISP's vlan tagging have issues with hardware acceleration. This is something Asus recently started looking at.

With HW acceleration off it's the same thing.

No crashes or reboot

All that shows is your firewall blocking connection attempts from the Internet - random port scanning and what not.

Disable logging of dropped packets, it will be much easier to browse through your log.
