Second Best/Fastest ASUS VPN Client Router

Is there a huge difference in WiFi performance between the two?
My RT-AC86U boot looped last week with no reason, so I'm also looking for some options.
I don't run VPN on the router anymore, so good reliable WiFi only should be good enough.

The AC1900P's WiFi is equal to the AC86s. A couple of features are missing on the AC1900P which is the same router as other AC68/AC1900s. It just lacks the AES-NI encryption support that the AC86 has but the 1400 Ghz processor is plenty fast enough for everything else.

A very stable router used my first one for a year before giving it to my son when I got the AC86. I had to purchase another AC1900P to fill in for my AC86.

I don't know what to tell you. I have three guest networks set up on the AC1900P or the AC86 when it is running and all my IoT devices connect to these SSIDs. The only high bandwidth device that connects is a Roku stick that I use occasionally when a channel isn't available directly on a Smart TV plugged into my LAN. I use Ethernet as much as possible and try and avoid WiFi for devices and applications needing steady and fast connections all the time.

My primary network devices using WiFi connect to an AC68 set up as an AP on a segregated VLAN. Using an Iphone 6 connecting to the 5 Ghz radio on this AP I get download speeds of 130/140 Mbps.

I did have a gig connection for awhile which was the reason I upgraded from a N66 to the AC1900P and the AC1900P was fine but again most of my connections are wired.

Ok, I may have to stick to the RT-AC86U for now, until it lasts. Most of my network is wireless AC-only with link speeds 433-1300. Compared to standard RT-AC68U, 86U is way ahead with wireless performance, 30-50% faster on same distances.
