Hey everyone,
Just joined so thanks for reading my question.

I have the Asus RT AC5300 running on the latest merlin firmware. However I have noticed both on the merlin and the original firmware that running a speed test will come back at my full isp speeds of 360M over WiFi. The next day my speed would be down to 6-9 M even standing next to the router. A restart fixis the issue immediately. Im only restarting the Asus router so the bandwidh been given to the router from my virgin media hub is not the issue.

I have smart connect enabled so my WiFi is only one ssid.

Any help appreciated.

So running a speedtest this morning came back under 10meg. Instead of restarting my router I turned wifi off on the device I was testing. Turned wifi back on and as soon as it connected I was up to full speed again.

Weird....

Have you confirmed your device is connected to 5GHz when it is slow? My initial guess is that you are on 5GHz when fast and on 2.4GHz when slow.

Device is always on the 5ghz channel.
Even if it did switch to the 2.4ghz it would still be faster than 10.
