Hello all

I got 1gbps Internet at home.

When check Internet speed from inside the router it shows 900+ mbps but when I connect a laptop to the primary router with cable I get around 450-550 mbps.

Tried multiple laptops and same result.

Any idea what it can be?

Thanks

If you have any kind of QoS or other bandwidth limiting features enabled, turn them OFF and try again.

Some laptops have NIC power management (hw and/or sw) and that may be a variable here. May you try with a desktop or a least with a laptop and its power supply? Set the power plan to "performance" or anything similar may help too.

yeah, tried that but didnt make any difference.

This kind of sounds like a duplex issue.

Are you using a usb nic, or does your laptop have a built in ethernet port?
Do you know what ethernet chip it is?

Also, make sure your cable is a cat5e at minimum to get gigabit speeds. cat5 cable isn't rated/certified for speeds past 100mbps..
Have you tried with a different cable as well?
