Stock firmware => Asuswrt-Merlin

I just got the AC68U and its running firmware version 3.0.0.4.374_4561. I would like to install Asuswrt-Merlin so I can install some startup scripts. Can I just install the latest Asuswrt-Merlin firmware (RT-AC68U_3.0.0.4_374.39_0) even through its slightly behind there version I have?

Yes install away don't forget to do a nvram reset

Yes reset to factory specs after update and reconfigure the router.
