First off. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.
Well it's time for me to upgrade my wireless router that I've had for many years. I have a very old Airport Extreme that provides limited coverage and gives me absolutely no visibility into my network at all. No QOS, VPN, Traffic monitoring, etc.
I'm considering two different models, the AC–5300 or the AC–88. I think either router, technology wise, will do just fine but now I am trying to figure out which one aesthetically will cause me the least grief from my wife.
I am hoping that the AC-5300 would be less obvious on top of my 5.5 foot entertainment tower with the antennas not sticking straight up like they would on the AC-88.
I have two questions:
Thanks again for any info,
Dan

I am hoping that the AC-5300 would be less obvious on top of my 5.5 foot entertainment tower with the antennas not sticking straight up like they would on the AC-88.
I have two questions:
- Can someone please tell me the width of the AC– 5300 with the antennas extended to the 45° angle's that is recommended? The reason I need to know this is I want to make sure it can fit on top of my cabinet without the arms hanging off the sides.
- Now for a technology question. Neither unit has enough ethernet ports for all of my devices, so I was wondering if I hook up my switch downstream to this router, will I still have all the management capabilities and visibility into the traffic on my network?
Thanks again for any info,
Dan
