New Around Here
Hi really hoping someone can help me with this as it has me tearing my hair out inf rustration

I am trying to use this with a tp link td-w8950n acting as a modem in bridge mode. I end up with a totally unstable connection and lots of modem hangup errors. one particular error is a page appears trying to connect to the router.asus.com with a dial which is trying to connect but over and over rapidly in a broken looking way.

I have tried with newest firmware and a couple of differnet merlin firmwares restoring to factory default as well.

I have troubleshot the connection and the td-w8950 as I currently have that set up as a a modem router without the 68u and everything seems stable. Also tried different cables

I'm asking here as a last resort after many googles and signing up to the very dead tp-link forum. Any help much appreciated!

Hi,

I suppose you have read the limitations for bridge mode with the AC68U

RT-AC68U can be configured in Media Bridge mode. The Media Bridge mode provides the fastest 802.11ac Wi-Fi connection for multiple media devices simultaneously. To set up the Media Bridge mode, you need two RT-AC68U: one configured as the Media station and the other as a router. Configure one RT-AC68U as a router and another RT-AC68U as an 802.11ac Media Bridge to provide a simultaneous 802.11ac Wi-Fi connection for your media devices such as computer, Smart TV, game console, DVR, or media player via Ethernet cable.Change to Media Bridge mode to provide a simultaneous 802.11ac Wi-Fi connection for your media devices.
In Media Bridge mode, only wireless devices connect to the P-AP. Client devices need to be connected to the Media Bridge with a network cable.
In Media Bridge Mode, the DHCP-assigned IP address changes. Install and use the Device Discovery Utility to get the wireless router's new IP address.

As far as I do understand, the TP should be the router and the AC68U the bridge, or?

Hi thanks for replying.
Not sure I understand. The tp-link w8950n is a cheap modem with very poor routing an d wireless capabilities. The idea is this connects to the web and then sends the internet to my rt-ac68u which then deals with the routing and the wireless
