TCP/IP Settings - Timings

Occasional Visitor
Hi Everyone,

I was just going through Merlin's latest and greatest firmware on my RT-N66U, and was wondering about the timings that are listed under Tools>Other Settings>TCP/IP Settings.

What I would like to know is can these settings be adjusted for better performance/security?

Also, does anyone know what units of measurement are used e.g. Days, Hours, Minutes, seconds?

These rarely need to be tweaked to be honest. They were already configurable in nvram, so I exposed them through the webui.

The most commonly changed settings are session timeouts. Some VoIP software can be quirky unless you adjust the UDP timeout (it used to be an issue with Tomato which used a less-than-optimal default timeout), or the TCP timeout if you are on a network with a LOT of sessions.

Timing values are all in seconds.

Hey Merlin, wonderful firmware just flashed my stock AC87.

Regarding these settings above, I'm thinking I need to edit these out certain sites as Im going 100% packet loss on some sites since flashing?

For example:
PING www.atlassian.com (54.88.56.182): 56 data bytes

--- www.atlassian.com ping statistics ---
5 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss
29 *

Those timings shouldn't have any effect on packet losses, as they mostly related to TCP/UDP sockets - your pings are ICMP.
