any know of a free data thruput analyser plse? Clock speed is one thing but actual data xfer is what I'd like to monitor on windows/apple PC iPhone or iPad. Thanx in advance

The best is a specific file (at least 1GB or larger) of your own choosing, a stop watch and a calculator.

You may want to take a look to jperf. Very good for basic test IMHO and it is free. I was able to tweak my wireless AP location to get 170-200 mbps Wireless to LAN.
