What hardware are you running the VPN connection on? To get the best vpn performance, you want a router with a CPU that has AES-NI. Most consumer routers do not have CPUs with this feature. The Asus RT-AC86U has AES-NI. I recently took an old PC with an Intel i5 AES-NI and flashed it with pfSense. I see a huge increase in performance. A search for Desktop Network Appliances will give you companies that provide higher end hardware to better support VPN performance. But you will most likely need to run pfSense on the appliances. We we’re looking into setting up another VPN for our home business network. ExpressVPN was running way to slow. Anyone have any recommendations on top VPNs security- performance. We were looking into NordVPN but I like to do my research first and opinions. Thank you
Asus 3200. We were running Express VPN the problem was we had to keep connecting to different servers way to slow upload and download - streaming videos - Netflix had issues. This is pretty much for home use but sense i work off my lab top at times for clients at my job etc a sense of security is a must. No for any vpn connection do I need to setup the connection in the router settings for Maximum performance. Also the firmware basic firmware? I use TorGuard. The primary reason I selected them is the ability to circumvent VPN blocks some services have put in place and the flexibility to run on any OS: Android, iOS, Mac, DD-WRT, pfSense, OpenWRT, Windows. If you decide to use them, see this link for a 50 percent off discount code I obtained for my computer club:

This is the only site I know of that ranks VPNs and is not an affiliate of any VPN service: https://thatoneprivacysite.net/vpn-comparison-chart/
Thank you thank you thank youovpn performance depends on many factors
that said if your Router has monstrous bandwidth capabilities then the problem is either the internet or the vpn server
