I have my traffic History saving to a custom location (sdcard in the USB 2.0 port). All seems to be working with the exception of the most important thing, files are being saved as a .gz file type, how to I open this to view the traffic History?

OK, maybe I am missing something with this feature. It gives you the ability to save history from all or specific devices and save them to a customer location. If you do not have the ability to read the file, what good is this feature? What am I missing? I simply want to be able to record web history from specific devices to an attached sd card and view the web history logs at a later time.

Also, is there anyway to view the adaptive QOS web history remotely?

I understand you can view in the webui, but, it only shows such a short period. Is there a way to extend that period?

Once you configure the database on a USB disk, it can report multiple months. I forgot the exact limit, but I think it's somewhere around 6 months - that's plenty enough.

I think the main benefit of this is not loosing the traffic data after every firmware update or reboot if it was kept stored in RAM. That's the main benefit I see anyway.

Did I get right, that both Traffic Monitor and Traffic statistics tabs count history logs from USB? Or only Monitor?

And where we can view/edit this time limit? Is 6 months an exact value or so-so?

Despite having my traffic stats saved to a USB drive with many gigabytes free, my traffic history never goes back more than a month. I would like to be able to store it indefinitely.

Cursory search of the asuswrt-merlin Git repo for traffic.db (this is on my jffs and is not the stuff stored in cstats/rstats on the USB, but I have not fully explored yet) yielded some seeming 1month deletion code in release/src/router/traffic_limiter/traffic_limiter.c, but I am not sure if that is related.

Mine has monthly amounts going back to Jan 2017 when I started saving them to the USB stick, so 14 months. The Daily lists seems to go back 2 months. First day is Dec 26, 2017.

Only the Traffic Monitor amounts are saved, not the Statistics tab. The Statistics tab uses the Trend Micro Engine in a separate database file and all this part of the code is closed source.
