OK I understand now.
There are 3 different things here.
1. The real-time graph which only exists when you're looking at it.
2. The last 24 hours graph (which you were looking at) which only shows the last 24 hours (duh) or the data since the router was rebooted, whichever is shorter. This is because this data is stored in a temporary file.
3. Daily/monthly summary data which is stored in the rstats file. This data can be stored on a USB drive to preserve it through reboots.
