I have replaced my broken RT-N66 with a WRT1900ac. All went OK, so it seemed. My older devices still can connect to the internet and my laptop with ac adapter also gets good connection and speed even outdoors.

There is one serious problem though. Shares on Thecus and Qnap NAS and unraid server don't show up in the network browser on the three windows 7 ultimate laptops we have anymore. All devices are on the standard windows 7 WORKGROUP. I still can access DLNA servers that are running on the NASes and unraid server. My Dune mediaplayer can still play mkv and blurays rips from them. But why can't those Win 7 laptops not browse any of the servers. Does any of you have any tips on how to fix this? Is there some setting in the router that blocks access to the servers? I tried wireless and wired connection to the router.

I suspect that IP addresses changed with the new router. So whichever machine is the Master Browser has not yet updated.

Try shutting down all the Windows machines. Then bring up one and browse the network. You should also refresh the browser view.

Thank you.

Is there a way to check which machine is the master browser?

Only the unraid server has a setting called local master which can be set to yes or no. I don't see it on the NASes. Does this only apply to Wndows?

Does it matter in which sequence the machines are powered up?

Master browser is a Windows function. There are Microsoft knowledge base articles on determining and setting Master Browser, just search.

Should not matter the order in which machines are brought up. But do only one at a time, checking network browsing with each one before bringing up the next.
