I assumed that with 2 usb ports on the device, I could connect 2 drives to it and share them properly.
With the 2 drives, I can see them both fine on the PC. But my LG "smart" tv wants the media server to show up properly.

As you can see above, the only way I can get the drives contents to show up on the TV is to select the drive from the list. So I have to pick either drive A or B in the list, I can't have both. Surely there has to be a way to have both drives on the media server? I am not going to have to keep changing this setting every time I want to watch a film on a certain drive surely?

Had the same problem with debian minidlna and I found the sollution to create a folder with 2 folders xxx and yyy inside and symlink them to your media dirs. Maybe that will work for you also. Of course xxx and yyy can be whatever name you want.

Question is how come you are sharing sdc1 ?. I'm asking because I also use sdc and it is my sd card :-/

It was because I named the 2nd drive incorrectly and the router just assigned it a name. It's not really called that.
I'm thinking about even trying another firmware, tomato or DDWRT. Maybe that could solve it, but the last time I tried DDWRT, I bricked my router

You could probably change that name you know but I would say go and install entware and debian minidlna. That's what I did and I have entware on sd card and 2 drives shared over lan and with minidlna :)

Try using a simple USB hub. I have three USB drives plugged into a hub which is plugged into a single USB port.

I can log into any of the drives from any device on the network however I have never tried streaming video.

Actually, you can use both drives to sharing media, you have to click on one drive name and not on the label, then press ok and apply, now minidlna will scan /mnt

Brilliant! Just what I need. It is so far working perfect. Also while I was changing settings, something weird happened...
Then I spotted the date. Try it for yourself :p

I am having a small issue with this. This issue has happened for a while now.
Basically for unknown reasons, my LG TV will suddenly stop seeing the router and its attached HD's. Although my PC and laptop can see the HD's fine, the TV will stop. This means I have to reboot the router and then the TV has to scan both hard drives again which takes well over an hour before I can even watch something.

Anyone know why this happens and why a reboot fixes it? It is frustrating as when I want to watch a film and I discover the TV can't find the router, I know I have about 1/2 hours before I can sit down and watch said movie, after the reboots and scanning.

So are you saying that if you would have named the 2nd drive correctly (i.e. no spaces, no special characters) the router would not name the drive "sdc1" and instead the label you gave it would show up?

Yup
I've just tried it now and it works. Long as there is no spaces it will show up on my TV correctly named.
