New Around Here
Hey,
I recently bought AX88U and I am trying to maximize the bandwidth I can get of it.
for some reason, I am not able to create a 160Mhz connection, only up to 80Mhz.

I explicitly set the Channel Bandwidth to 160Mhz and changed the Control Channel accordingly (I tried 36 and 40)
but still, I am not getting a 160Mhz band.

this is the Wireless Log output I am getting
```
Supported Rates: [ 6(b) 9 12(b) 18 24(b) 36 48 54 ]
Channel Information
----------------------------------------
Channel 36 A Band
Channel 40 A Band
Channel 44 A Band
Channel 48 A Band
Channel 52 A Band, RADAR Sensitive, Passive, Temporarily Out of Service for 26 minutes
Channel 56 A Band, RADAR Sensitive, Passive
Channel 60 A Band, RADAR Sensitive, Passive
Channel 64 A Band, RADAR Sensitive, Passive
```

On my PC I am using TX3000E adapter so I am sure it supports 160Mhz.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

In order to use 160MHz, you must use one of the DFS channel 52-64. If still cannot, might be your area has something that prevent the usage of DFS channel.

Channel 52 A Band, RADAR Sensitive, Passive, Temporarily Out of Service for 26 minutes
This log entry tells the story. The router detected radar on Channel 52, so switched channel. It had to fall back to 80 MHz mode because 160 MHz requires 8 contiguous channels.

I see.
so radar means simply other WiFi network is being used on that channel? or does it refer to other non-wifi equipment?

also - is there a way to force 160Mhz? because I don't see any wifi networks on channel 52 in my area

It's not another wifi network. It could be a weather radar. These routers are allowed to use frequencies, used by weather radars for example. But if the router sees such equipment it will stop using that frequency.

Use other bands. But usually 80Mhz is wide enough.

For example, no one around me is using 52 and above, so I use 52 and 100. Both 80Mhz wide. And here in the UK,100 @ 80Mhz keeps me out of the weather radars.

I am now doing the same. have you ever tried putting to 160mhz? i tried but some reason on wifiMan it still shows 80mhz not sure if the asus router is right (i forced it to 160mhz ) but on wifiman it says 80mhz channel width

Likely nothing's connected at 160 at the moment. If you've set 160 capability and there's no DFS going on, a 160-capable client should connect at 160, even if the radio's idling at 80.

What type of client?

I don't see the point of 160mhz unless you have a fixed PC/Laptop with Intel AC/AX client or router being used as a media bridge.

i agree i am just testing. Rather than using DFS channels i may try testing on channel 36-48 and see if it makes any difference. I suspect not as i have a few networks which sit on (probably auto channel selection on router) channel 36 and 48. I could try 40(something) see what 160mhz does
