New Around Here
Hi All,
I am having very slow transfer speeds, 800Kb/sec, from my PC to my NAS and from NAS folder to NAS folder.
When I connect the NAS directly to the PC I get 30Mb/sec and 16Mb/sec NAS folder to NAS Folder.
Setup:
PC Windows Vista 64bit
QNAP TS-210
TalkTalk Echolife HG521 Router
Belkin Gigabit Switch
Gigabit Ethernet Mobo
Not sure of the cabling but believe it to be Cat5 or Cat5e, probably not Cat6
Network:
Router connected to the switch, switch then goes to PC, NAS and TV
I have had the NAS since the new year and originally the transfer speeds were fine, well they weren't noticable slow. I recently tried to stream a movie to my TV from my NAS, which I have done many times before, but it kept stopping, which I assume is down to the slow speeds.
The LEDs on my switch are green, saying they are gigabit connections for the PC, NAS & TV, but amber for the Router, but it has always been like this and I would assume this was correct.
Things that I have done recently which may have broke it are:
I reset my router to factory setting as I forgot my password
I installed the latest firmware version on to the NAS (3.4.0 Build0212)
I installed the Latest version of Twonkey Media Server 6.0.30 on the NAS
I installed Microsoft Security essentials and uninstalled AVG
I have tried to look for firmware updates for the router but cannot find any and turned of MS Sec. Ess. but cannot get it to speed up.
I assume it maybe something to do with the router settings?
Any ideas/solutions would be welcome.
Cheers Ian
