VPN client setup on RT-N66U using asuswrt-Merlin

I am using the most current version of merlin wrt on my RT-N66U dark knight. I need to configure it to connect to a VPN service such as Hide.me

I was looking at the instructions for OpenVPN here but 1) they seem a bit esoteric, and 2) not sure they would translate exactly when using merlin wrt.

For those who have the same router/firmware as me, can you please share the best way to accomplish this VPN config... or alternatively, I am open to suggestions on a firmware/vendor combo for this router.

Any help, or advice on how to get setup is greatly appreciated!

I use PrivateInternetAccess VPN and followed this tutorial did the trick for me.

Thanks, I found both PIA and NordVPN to have good tutorials that were easy to follow
