WAN DNS Settings...& clients

I recommend you use the suggestions here to gain access to the windows admx files vs accessing the adm... There are more options inside the admx, the directions for admx are at the bottom of this link.
https://www.poremsky.com/windows/use-group-policy-admx-files-in-windows-7-or-8/
The directions in previous post are for using the adm files.

I never could get the "ADMX" files to load, even after copying them to c:\windows\policydefinitions. the gp editor complains that only ADM files can be used. Interesting.

you first have to copy the standard admx to policy definitions. then you have to copy the language file to the language folder within policydefinitions.

so your first copy will be from

windows\admx\chrome.admx&google.admx-----to c:\windows\policydefinitions\lang
then second copy from
windows\admx\en-us(if that is your language)\chrome.admx&google.admx---to c:\windows\policydefinitions\en-us

I tried the above suggestions but still cannot find an option to enable TLS 1.3 unfortunately.
I downloaded the google chrome templates and imported the ADMX template into the local group policy editor but was unable to find one that enables TLS 1.3 (unless I somehow missed it). Closest thing I could find is "minimum TLS version to fallback to"
which I set to TLS 1.2.

I navigated to C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Local State file, I was able to find the local state file and opened it with notepad but there is no tls13-variant@1" or "tls13-variant@8 or anything pertaining to the TLS 1.3 setting
(probably cause it is still disabled) except for the downgrade hardening setting, same as in chrome://flags.

@Jumpstarter I dont know what you meant by the following statement : also, you can modify the target to in the Chrome shortcut to be
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --tls13-variant=disabled"
Maybe checking to make sure these are undone will fix the issue.
My only suggestion is finding an uninstaller that will remove not only Chrome broswer but also all of its dependencies it installs-- something that will remove all the way down to the registry values... only then you should be able to reinstall and have working tls 1.3

so your first copy will be from

windows\admx\chrome.admx&google.admx-----to c:\windows\policydefinitions\lang
then second copy from
windows\admx\en-us(if that is your language)\chrome.admx&google.admx---to c:\windows\policydefinitions\en-us
Thank you

Can anyone answer an unrelated question about my subnet mask please?
A couple days ago I decided to change my RT-AC86u's LAN IP address & IP pool (so its not the default to possibly be a bit more secure). After doing so I noticed that my WAN subnet mask is now 255.255.240.0, unfortunately I cannot remember if that is what it was before. I assume it was the same as my LAN subnet mask 255.255.255.0 & automatically changed when I changed the 3rd set of numbers of my IP address (yes I kept my ip 192.168. but changed the last two sets of numbers).

Please excuse my ignorance when it comes to subnet mask's but is it normal to have different subnet masks between LAN/WAN?

Your ISP defines your WAN subnet mask for your internet connection. It’s sized based on the large number of customers they service in a particular area. If your WAN connection is DHCP, there is nothing to set. If you have a static IP, I guess you’ll need to confirm with the ISP what the proper subnet is, if you feel it changed. I’m surprised my WAN netmask is only 255.255.254.0, but I wouldn’t have been surprised to see 240.0 either.

No static IP from mediacom and all my devices are DHCP aside from a few manually assigned around the DHCP list which are within my pool. I guess the WAN subnet mask was always 255.255.240.0 and I just didnt notice it.
So I am correct by keeping my LAN subnet set to 255.255.255.0 even though I changed my IP address?

BTW I forgot to mention that I no longer have a possible 254 hosts (its like 249) in my pool since I didnt give my router a .1 IP address? That was my concern when I asked if my LAN subnet mask would need changed.

EDIT: ok nevermind I just realized that all I did was inadvertantly set aside a few possible static IP adresses which when doing so doesnt require changing the subnet mask. As long as the first 3 sets of digits are the same for all my devices It wont need changed.
