What is asusdiscovery?

No, I just don't get it. Seems like Merlin did, so guess I'm the idiot, thanks for taking the time. One day I hope to have enough posts to be grand wizard on here too. No thanks, will go elsewhere.

Sensitive type...? Welcome to the anonymous world we call Internet.

Come on, relax. You're welcome to stay and post autistic questions and respond to equally stupid remarks. [emoji1]

Do you also notice that on regular interval (a few minutes apart) a process is spawned to "ping 8.8.4.4"?
I have not seen that on my router. I've been running with the following packages removed from the firmware, so maybe that's why. However, I have noticed unsolicited replies coming from 8.8.4.4, similar to those DNS and NTP amplification checks/attacks.
Code:
MEDIASRV=n
MODEM=n
MODEMPIN=n
PARENTAL2=n
WEBDAV=n
CLOUDSYNC=n
EMAIL=n
DROPBOXCLIENT=n
TIMEMACHINE=n
MDNS=n
JFFS2LOG=n
BWDPI=n
TOR=n
CLOUDCHECK=n
DNSFILTER=n

Not sensitive at all, just didn't get it and wanted an explanation as just trying to learn.

8.8...is Google, so wouldn't that perhaps be some Google/android device? I have read where they force their dns servers per device regardless of what you put on the router.

Some apps have hard coded google public DNS into their packages - Netflix was one of them...
