What is ASUS referring to here: ASUSUWRT 4.0?
The image at the top of the page has the answer. It refers to the 388.x firmware.

The same page was called Asuswrt 2022 before.

Marketing is everything. Make it look shiny and flashy enough and they will come.

What's in a name.

Long ago for the RT-N66U firmware starting with the number 3 was introduced:
Version 3.0.0.4.130
2012.05.18
1. Change to ASUSWRT style.

The leading 3 stayed till today.

Maybe after 9.0.0.6.102.3506 is out of beta (the leadng 9 stands for beta), it will be numbered like 4.0.0.6.xxxx

Asuswrt 5.0 with Pro features will perhaps kill most Asuswrt 4.0 compatible devices. You guys have to upgrade more often.

I need to find that YouTube channel that's supposed to be about home networking, but suggests the average home should budget around $3000/year on their home network infrastructure - "in order to make it safe"!
