Hello,

Quick question, is there a script or a way to make the router check if the wifi drop and reboot.
I have devices that are connected 24/7 so it can ping those devices and if no response after X try reboot
self

Is this possible Router Guru?
Thanks

I think there are a few scripts kicking around here that reboot the router if it looses connection to the internet. You could probably easily modify one of those so that instead of pinging something on the internet it pings one of your wireless devices.

Interesting challenge.

A couple of the issues I see that would need to be overcome:

1. What happens if the device you are pinging goes off line, or is turned off? Then your router is going to be constantly rebooting until you discover the cause. If you are pinging an IP on the WWW such as 8.8.8.8 it takes a major Internet issue before it is not responding to pings.

2. Pinging a device on the LAN and getting a response doesn't mean WWW is available on your LAN. Router still might need to be rebooted.

None of these challenges are unsurmountable but it is probably going to require more than just pinging a LAN IP.
