Hello looking for advise on what ubiquiti gear to get. Openreach won't be installing fibre for 2 years so looking into wireless internet. Currently no wisp is near me so im going to have to have a dish on a friends house and one on mine. They are 9miles away as the crow flies so what gear do i need? Thanks in advance.

Do you have clear line of sight between the two houses? Guessing stuff out of the AirMax or AirFiber line.

not really but it's my only option tbh so I might just have to give it a go and if it dosesn't work I will have to sell the dishes. So what ones should i get? I have had a look and wondering about the airGrid M or the Powerbeam AC

Without line of sight, the lower the frequency the better. I don't know how much bandwidth your looking for but without line of sight I would not even try 5ghz antennas. Of course the higher frequencies are usually able to carry more bandwidth given the same specification.

so i should get a 2.4GHz one? and which one airGrid M AG-HP-2G20 or the Powerbeam AC PBE-2AC-400 ?

Another problem you have at the distance your talking about is with Fresnel Zone. If you have more than 40% blockage of Fresnel Zone then you are going to have some problems. Add the blockage from not having line of sight and it gets worse. But at 2.4ghz, at nine miles, you would need to mount the radios at least 42feet in the air to have only 40% blockage (if my calculations are correct). Perfect height would be about 70 feet in the air.

All of this said, it still may possibly work (even if you can't mount it real high, and it is not line of sight) if you only need really low bandwidth, like 5Mbit or something.

I'm a bit confused with the ubiquiti line of sight tool.
If I want to receive the signal would I be the Site or the Station?-

I am not sure. I would have to have more time to look. I would think, though, since this is a one to one wireless bridge, it should not matter.
