My understanding 802.11ax is going to support 10gig. What are we going to see as the first generation? Some of the Cisco WAPs now have exceeded 1 gig connections. Are the new wireless units going to have multiple Ethernet connections for higher bandwidth?

I just used Cisco as an example. I am interested in the whole market.

From where does this understanding come?

11ax is focused on improving Wi-Fi network efficiency. That's right in the standard name, i.e. High Efficiency (HE) Wireless LAN.

Yes, consumer networking vendors will tout higher speed to get the BNOB they have trained consumers to look for as an indicator of higher Wi-Fi performance.

SNBForum regulars like yourself should know better than to get suckered at focusing on speed.

I can't find what I read the other day but in the 11ax spec it is for lot more than 1 gig. So even with real numbers it seems like 11ax is going to push more than 1 gig. Don't you think?

So it seems wireless APs are going change soon to support more than 1 wire back hauls.

Maybe better mesh for 1 gig systems because there will extra bandwidth in the system.

I am thinking here 5 GHz systems. I am not sure about 2.4GHz
