YazDHCP YazDHCP - feature expansion of DHCP assignments (increasing limit on the number of DHCP reservations)

Correct, no ssh. It's the greatest reason there is for having this addon. Export, reinstall, import (after making any necessary changes to the LAN IP (must match)).
If you've added custom icons you can backup and restore those too, but that process involves copying a file off the router then adding it back after reinstall. I don't bother doing that, I have all my icons on the laptop.
Ok good.
What do you mean by "after making any necessary changes to the LAN IP" ?
For icons, I'm using the ones integrated.
Thanks for all your help 🙏🏻

If you're choosing to use anything other than the LAN's default IP. If you did change it you'd know what I was referring to so no worries there.

Ok you mean like mine is 192.168.31.xxx, I should put all that before importing ?

@Jack Yaz just here to say happy new year and thank you for this addon. Switch and router crapped out the last week and I had to go through and manually reenter a ton of reservations. Now using this tool and realizing just how darn easy it makes things going forward!

For IPv6. I have it disabled in its tab. But I also have YazDHCP 1.0.6 installed. Someone, maybe YazDHCP, is still handing out an IP address to my Pixel8a phone when presented with an IPv6 MAC address. How do I disable IPv6 DHCP in all places? I suspect my phone will default to its IPv4 address if IPv6 fails.

There’s no such thing as an IPv6 MAC address. What are you really seeing? An IPv6 link local address on the phone? That’s locally generated. YazDHCP doesn’t do IPv6.

That is not what YazDHCP does.
PS: Are you sure your phone isn't configuring an IPv6 address for itself? My Android phone assigns itself an IPv6 address even though IPv6 has been disabled in the router firmware from the start both on Asus-Merlin + YazDHCP and on stock Asus 3006.102.x firmware.

I noticed some strange behavior recently (couple of months), but I am not entirely sure if it's YazDHCP related. I have 88 DHCP reservations using YazDHCP at the moment if that matters (half of that I should probably clean up one of these days).

When I change device names and change icons, it doesn't always stick. Sometimes it does, sometime it doesn't. I had this for a long time, but I'd like to find out why I have this problem.

Example:

This is how it shows up in the DHCP page (this is not a new entry, it's been there for a couple of reboots actually):

1736429221584.png

Points to note: Default icon, New device

When I click on the icon, it looks like this (so it actually seems to know I have a custom icon):

1736430305051.png

Point to note: It knows I changed the icon

When I actually change the name above and hit apply, it just doesn't take (it stays "New device').

There is no error, not on screen, not in the log.

Some entries I can update without problem. That's the strange thing.

Any ideas how to debug this or where to look for pointers?

I believe I had this behavior for a while, a few FW versions at least.

I just removed 20 old DHCP reservations, same problem even after reboot.
I also just tried Chrome instead of Firefox, still the same.

Apologies for the large screenshots, I have no idea why there are so big when I post them here (it's not the actual size on my screen).

Code:
RT-AX86U Pro / 3004.388.8_4
YazDHCP 1.0.6

I have a couple of user icons, but not really using them extensively as far as I can tell.

Right, I got that wrong. I was referring to a 64-bit MAC address, and confused a long MAC addr with a IPv6 addr.

I had a similar issue awhile back. First you can try unplugging the router & modem for 10-15 minutes. If this doesn't work the only thing the worked for me was to reset my router and setup form scratch. Do not restore from a previous setup. After resetting router it allowed me to change names & icons again. I'm thinking something unexpectedly went haywire along the way.

It used to be the case that "New Device" would appear under Client Name even after entering a custom name, until the first time that device connected to the network.
