Hard to believe it has to do with Merlins fimware, but maybe I'm not alone.

When I want to play a YouTube vid, using Chrome, it starts to buffer (=download) but will not start to play.
When I press the stop and start button still not playing the vid.

Only when I disable wireless on my laptop, with a switch, it starts to play.:confused:
Then enable the wireless and all keeps playing just fine.

Maybe I should try a different firmware to test if this is related to the router.
But.... does this behaviour sound familiar to anyone?

Make sure you aren't connected both wired and wirelessly at the same time, as it will mess up routing on your computer.

The DNS server you use will also have an impact on Youtube's performance. Using any DNS server that's not your ISP's runs a risk of pointing you at a remote Youtube server rather than the closest one.

Thx.
My laptop is only wireless 2.4 GHz.

I will try to switch DNS, currently using OpenDNS and not my ISP's one.

Play You Tube videos all the time 68U using chrome no issues. Merlin 40-alpha4. I also never had that issue using my N66U that router was using Merlin 39_0em

No You Tube issues here and I am using the same router and firmware as you Builder71. FYI I am using my ISP's DNS.

Cheers!

Thx for the info.
This way I can rule out the router.

Tried the DNS from my ISP but that didn't help.
Back to OpenDNS.
I also tried cleaning Chrome history and all that, but no glory.

Today I deleted the folder "C:\Users\Papa\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome". (Win 7 Pro.)
That seems to have solved the problem! :)

(If you do, make sure to backup your bookmarks first.)

Let's hope it will keep working now.

I attached a picture when playing a 2:00 min. YouTube video on 720p HD.
I guess this looks normal.
