Maybe this is a dumb question, but I will ask anyway. I noticed there is only support for 2 specific routers right now. I know these aren't the only ones ASUS released 3006 firmware for. Is the reason only these 2 are available is because Merlin only received the GPL's for these 2 routers from ASUS, or is there something else I am missing something?

Since it’s a new code base Merlin had to start somewhere. Two new wifi 7 devices he knows will be on the new code, and once all the porting and bug fixes have been sorted out then wifi 6 devices will be potentially moved over to the new code. He does not as far as I understand have a list of GPL’s on the new code for wifi 6 devices (yet) or if he does it’s likely only a few of the Pro high end models. More will come be patient. But don’t get your hopes up that your device will be on the list, it’s unlikely many wifi 6 devices will make the switch and from that only HND/Pro routers, Asus will want to discard older products like AC routers and certain chipsets.

The following posts may provide some answers in addition to the link(s) others already provided to your question:

Dirty update to Alpha2 over Alpha1, all's good. Able to install Add-On "Unbound" now. Just Skynet (won't install) & FlexQoS (GUI panel not operational) as before. That just a FYI in this Alpha series & 3006 testing phase.

I’ve made a couple half-hearted attempts to update for Chart.js 3.x, but I was apparently too clever and made my code so complicated that I haven’t figured out the problem yet.
"bugger" (NZ Toyota Ads on YouTube).... If any offline testing needed just DM me.

I think this release is to add in those WiFi 7 devices. WiFi 6 devices will probably get 388.8 as most still have 388 GPLs

I just installed a GT-BE98 Pro.
WiFi throughput is abysmal.
My AX-86U pushes 800+ to my Pixel 8 Pro
The BE98 is lucky to clear 430

Same conditions.

I may have to return it.

Performed the same on latest stock and alpha 2.

Which band are you testing this on? 2.4? 5? 6?

This is the stock default WiFi setup with the exception of enabling MLO
Pixel 8 Pro connection info as tested. First is the BE96 next image is the AX86 Link speeds are greatly different in favor of the BE96 but not reflected in throughput.

I'd probably keep MLO disabled since it's pretty buggy. With my two BE 98 pro's it does not support MLO on the other router so yeah take it with a grain of salt. Now I did read read a review of the new BQ16 Pro with AFC and MLO enabled and working on newer firmware that actually had really great performance and range at dongknows website. We'll see if next firmware will bring anything good. I also noticed on the BQ16 pro you can combine the 5ghz and 6ghz only for MLO which ideally what I want. Can't do any of that on the BE98 Pro on latest asus firmware.

Installed Alpha2 on my BE96U and so far so good! I don't use VPN at the router level so haven't tested any of that, but so far all stock settings are working as expected on Merlin. 🙏

I also have a Pixel 8 Pro and BE96U.. P8P has horrible speeds throughput-wise IMO. I honestly think it's the phone itself, as no other devices on my network have the same issues. It's either a radio hardware issue or bad modem firmware. I'm in the Android beta program (started on 14, now on 15 beta 2.2 as of 2 days ago), and they've released many new modem firmwares via beta updates, and NONE have fixed the connectivity issues w/ this phone. My upload speed is almost always twice my DL speed, frequent disconnects etc. Really disappointing.

This is hopeful news! Really hope a similar update comes for the BE96U, b/c I want to use 5ghz and 6ghz only for MLO as well!

Also dirty update to Alpha 2 over Alpha 1, all's good, i've tried with add-on RTRMON and VPNMON, and both working correctly, will keep testing

Is the pro version available in the uk?

I need to upgrade and would love to test this alpha?
GT-BE98_PRO is for North America, while GT-BE98 is for the UK, due to different 6 GHz regulations.
