I think we don’t see it is because we’re using 25513, which is a beta and pretty close to the new build 25524. I’m getting some strange issues now where certain iOS devices aren’t connecting to the closest node, or don’t see it at all. I’m going to revert back to 25509 and see if the router sees the update then and download it. I’ll let you know how it goes.

You’re right. I just downgraded to 25509 and now it’s telling me theres an updated firmware available (25524). Installed it for good measure. Right away, disappointment. I was seeing 100-180mbps max wherever I went. HOWEVER—- Two reboots later and everything is back to 100%. (Rebooted all 5 nodes several times) Getting 650mbps download speed all over the house and yard just like before. All my Apple stuff is working too. So if you’re having issues just try rebooting a few times, even in different orders. Not sure why but it always seems to fix my connection issues after an update or settings change.

I downgraded to 25509 and it keeps telling me there is an firmware upgrade but it won’t download the 25524 file. I think I’m going to call it a day with this and get rid of it. The hassles aren’t worth it anymore.

I wouldn't jump ship just yet, this latest firmware appears to be rock solid and seems to be solving all the stability and node connection issues people are having. i think going forward, the updates are going to make this system even better.

ah okay, i'm actually on the same plan.

I am not seeing the numbers you are getting though. i only have one ax client in the house at the moment though.

any suggestions on the settings you could pass along?

My settings that work for me are:

My settings for 5ghz 1 and 2 General and Professional:
*my roaming assistant is set aggressively because I have a node in every room. I find it helps keep me connected to the closest node. Most people will want this set to around -65

Hope that helps!

Having 3 SSIDs has given me the best experience with this system. Disabling smart connect lets you decide how to allocate your client connections. Here’s what I do with 3 separate SSIDs. You might want to try it out!

On the 2.4ghz band I put all the smart home clients. Printers, smart outlets, lights and switches, Amazon echos, thermostats... anything slow and low bandwidth goes on the 2.4ghz band.

On the 5ghz-1 band I put all my stationary high bandwidth clients. PCs, smart TVs, IP Cameras, iPads, Xbox, Apple TV’s, set top boxes all go on the 5ghz-1 band.

On the 5ghz-2 band I put iPhones only. And any future Wifi 6 devices will go on this band.

I hope this info helps.

Well after four separate firmware downloads, three factory resets and entering in all my setting manually I have something that’s fast and seems stable so far. I used a few of your settings except the 5ghz2 band as I’m using that for a long distance backhaul. I’ll keep at it but it’s definitely improved quite a bit. Woohoo

I have only been over 500Mbps once using the Wifi SweetSpots app. Since the latest firmware update I’m only getting anywhere from 150-200Mbps.

I have separated the SSID’s and optimized the channels based on where my neighbours are. Gotta try and figure out what’s going on here.

Also, wouldn’t having the roam assist set to -65 cause too much switching? I have one node on main floor and one in the basement with wired backhaul.

Latest build is: Version 3.0.0.4.386.25524
Been out for a few days now.

It may be out in another thread I missed. But, trying to let folks know not to bother with beta I sent out last week. Better to go to latest release I would think.

If you’re using the 25513 beta you won’t see the 25524 update on the GUI. You have to install 25509 and then the 25524 update shows up or download 25524 update from Asus website and do it manually. The 25513 beta actually worked pretty well the 25524 update has some issues I think.

The roaming assist set aggressively works for me. Since I have a basestation in every room and the backyard, I always get a top quality connection. And it doesn’t actually disconnect you at the set value; it seems to use some logic when making roaming decisions. Seems to work very well for me. I wish I could do a demonstration of the roaming, it’s pretty cool. When I enter a room it connects to the nearest node within 15-30 seconds and I don’t see any blip in my calls or FaceTime at all.

I absolutely love this system. It’s been absolutely fantastic reliable and solid. Not a single disconnect or drop on speed yet.

I am using 3.0.0.4.386_25524 and up until moments ago was quite happy. Out of the blue experienced this:
Jun 18 16:52:43 wlceventd: wlceventd_proc_event(461): eth4: Deauth_ind <MAC ADDY REMOVED>, status: 0, reason: Deauthenticated because sending station is leaving (or has left) IBSS or ESS (3)
Jun 18 16:53:40 kernel: eth3 (Ext switch port: 2) (Logical Port: 10) (phyId: 2) Link DOWN.
Jun 18 16:53:46 kernel: eth3 (Ext switch port: 2) (Logical Port: 10) (phyId: 2) Link Up at 100 mbps full duplex

The result was weird. My laptop for work continued to work through VPN fine. But, my regular desktop could not resolve network addresses (timeout)

The only thing I have done on the router today was add web filtering for porn on a specific appliance. AIProtection is off. (app. 2 hours prior to this happening)

Shaw cable. Plan includes 600mbps down and 20 up.

I am not sure where you guys are located but Shaw is now offering GB internet in some areas. I'm getting great, consistent download speeds with the XT8 and Shaw's GB internet. I switched from the Orbi, which was abysmal for consistency and quality.
