AC66U - Dont use default route for VPN Client

Ah, I see. Sorry I'd assumed the client wasn't the router. Having a quick look I can see the option for OpenVPN but not for pptp. Assuming the original default gateway isn't removed and a new one is added, you'll have to manually/script in the removal of the default route that it created (ip...

AC66U - Dont use default route for VPN Client

There's an option on the client for setting whether the default gw is set as your local connection or the remote. This is true for all for both pptp and OpenVPN. There's an option you can change in the OpenVPN configuration so it generates the profile appropriately. Sent from MI 5 running...

    help installing YAzFi script

Not that I can help but you didn't say what the error was nor did you include a link to the directions you followed. From what you have included I can only guess that you have an Asus router running Merlin, your running putty on Linuxmint and you're getting an error issuing a command ...

RT-AC5300. Dual WAN leaks my real IP despite the strict mode of OpenVPN Firewall.

Just for my own curiosity, where is the tunnel established? Are you connecting in or this a tunnel going out? I've read your post a few times and I can't figure out how you've implemented OpenVPN and it's intended use. Sorry I know this doesn't help but curiosity got the better of me :) Sent...

    RT-AC88U No Modem Connection

Just to clarify, have you checked link state when connected to the router in the tools section? From what you've said it's hard to determine if you're not getting link or you're just not getting internet. I'm not sure if you're bridged and using a ppoe client or your obtaining a dhcp address...

    RT-AC88U No Modem Connection

Sounds like the port is dead. Have you tested the WAN port connecting to something other than the modem? Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

Help: Using AC56U with Sky Hub so that attached HDDs are still visible

Agree completely with Colin, if you can get your head around it, bridging and using the router as intended would be ideal. I've never tested these features extensively and especially never tested in AP mode but from what I know, Colin should be correct. If you can get the IP and access the...

Help: Using AC56U with Sky Hub so that attached HDDs are still visible

Hmm ... Could only imagine that the DHCP server is still enabled and issuing incorrect settings ... Or, prior to doing this you will have to ensure that the WAN interface has no IP assigned and the LAN interface does not have a conflicting IP with the upstream router. Sent from my MI 5 using...

Help: Using AC56U with Sky Hub so that attached HDDs are still visible

Or leave it in router mode, disable dhcp and just use the LAN ports. The WAN port becomes useless but you get the same functionality as AP mode with the router mode features. I'm assuming the HDDs are available via DLNA or samba. The above shouldn't stop that. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

(Asus) Router settings for web server

Ping tests and traceroutes with and without DNS resolution wouldn't hurt. Also if you're using 2048 bit, drop it to 1024. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

(Asus) Router settings for web server

"to first byte", are you implying subsequent interaction seems acceptable? When initial interaction is slow it's typically a DNS issue. Does using the IP address have the same delay? Most comments including my own suggest OpenVPN + underpowered router or nothing at all. If it's not the...

Upgraded from RT-AC68U to RT-AC86U. Now my file sharing is all messed up.

Having to use an IP instead of a name either implies dynamic dns updates haven't occurred or you're not referencing your router for dns. Use nslookup or even ping to determine if you can resolve local names and ensure you're using the router's IP as your dns server. Check system log -> dhcp...

Shut off network for a device at a specific time using Mac address? RT-AC88U

Sorry, disabling CTF isn't what got it going but I did end up mentioning I disabled it as part of the whole process. Most of the advanced filtering features require this to be disabled anyway for accurate reporting ... but my internet speed is lame and the performance hit definitely does not...

Shut off network for a device at a specific time using Mac address? RT-AC88U

Ah yep, I said so much stuff above you may have missed that. This is what got it going for me but I was concerned it may adversely affect connection speed for you. Like Grisu said ... Check speed tests and maybe monitor CPU ... If it looks ok to you you're good. I'm loving this feature now ...

(Asus) Router settings for web server

I think the OpenVPN overheads, especially on that router and a restrictive cable upload speed are probably the only things that might affect latency. What sort of latency were you experiencing? Have you monitored the load on the router with/without OpenVPN? With cable, outbound saturation is...

Shut off network for a device at a specific time using Mac address? RT-AC88U

I wish I could help. I've left my restrictions on and they have been reliable. 7pm on the dot my son walks in and sits next to me because fortnite has timed out ;) The one thing I've noticed with devices that also have mobile data is that it will intermittently switch between them, giving the...

    Secondary network

No problem :D So long as double NAT isn't a problem and there's no requirement to route to your existing LAN subnet then that's definitely the easiest way to do it. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

If you can ping an internet address from the router cli then what I said above probably doesn't apply. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk
