And a week in RT-AC5300 is dead

That does suck and it's sad to hear. I've had mine for over 2 1/2 years, only vacuuming the top every so often and updating firmware and it's been rock solid. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

Monitoring network traffic for Grafana without SNMP devices

Ok gotcha. I guess my main point was consolidating the routing, which is achievable with router 1 running merlin but I'd be more inclined to use something that easily allows the switch to be reconfigured like openwrt, if it's supported. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

Monitoring network traffic for Grafana without SNMP devices

Router 1 may not be reporting WAN stats but are you sure that affects snmpd? Connecting via one router and sorting out why you're having dhcp issues/conflicts is probably the first step. Sorry not much help I know [emoji19] Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

Two router network setup not working. Help!

Sorry I won't be of any help but I'm really curious how you can dynamically change the queried DNS server based on destination when usually DNS is queried for the destination? Are you redirecting by inspecting host headers ... though then you may as well set static entries ... Seriously have no...

    AC3100 and Gigabit

I can only imagine it has something to do with either processing or memory bandwidth and allocation. Something was obviously alleviated by offloading to a dedicated GPU. At least now it's working I guess :D Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

ASUS Router iOS App V 1.0.0.0.95 - How to remove some Offline Clients

I agree but you mustn't have had stale entries, which are only presented in the json file. Problem is, like most json files, it's loaded into memory and can't be edited whilst networkmap is running or it will just revert half a minute later. I had a few entries that didn't show up anywhere else...

ASUS Router iOS App V 1.0.0.0.95 - How to remove some Offline Clients

The json file is a collection of custom, active and stale. To simply remove the stale entries I did: killall networkmap&&rm nmp_cl_json.js When networkmap comes back it'll regenerate the file without the stale entries. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

    AC3100 and Gigabit

If it is a killer, which I haven't seen that actually specified, it might be worthwhile removing any killer monitoring app if it's installed and install the bare driver. This generally helps with excessive resource usage which _may_ affect performance. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

    AC3100 and Gigabit

Capable or not, I highly doubt they've been modifying driver parameters and if auto-negotiation by default is resulting in anything less than the highest compatible link speed, that's a problem. Changing the defaults is likely to just be a waste of time. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

    AC3100 and Gigabit

Mine is an Asus USB AC adaptor but killer are notorious for random issues, especially unnecessary resource usage. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

    AC3100 and Gigabit

Yes, I agree that it might be a hardware or a software issue too ;) Seriously though, if you're using the same exact port and cable for the two tests, because I assumed you were (I'm also assuming you have checked the system load, event log errors and io thrashing during the tests to ensure...

    AC3100 and Gigabit

That makes a lot more sense. Being a cable network, you could try testing at staggered times to see if it's a peak vs off peak congestion issue ... Because it wouldn't surprise me at all if they replace/reprovision and end up with the same result. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

    AC3100 and Gigabit

I know it's a pita but you really want to test the two, one after the other just to rule out something upstream since the install. I only say this as your router isn't uncommon and you'd think you'd see more reports if it's something settings related. It's entirely possible that it's uncommon...

    AC3100 and Gigabit

If you remove the router and test directly from the modem are you getting the reported 950Mbps if you use the same testing method? I'm assuming you are but best to ask :) Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

    DDWRT/OpenWRT/Tomato on TM-AC1900

Having just read the linked forum thread, which rightfully asks "does nobody think of the children!" ... I have to believe that most comments up to this point, whilst mildly truthful, are a little tongue in cheek. Forget legality, just don't talk about the TM router here for modifications of...

Does a router need to be rebooted periodically?

Which may include having enough money to buy a better device. We all know plenty of buggy chipsets, firmwares and wireless implementations and rarely do we have the skills to address these underlying problems. Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

Does a router need to be rebooted periodically?

You'll see a lot of people on here say they have scheduled in regular reboots and nobody bats an eyelid ... but I think most would agree you shouldn't have to and it's something you will only do out of necessity. My answer would be do it if you have to. If it's an issue that occurs inside of...
