LAN ip when connecting to VPN server

Try this: Go to the OpenVPN Servers tab, select "Advanced Settings" next to VPN Details. Set "Allocate from DHCP" to yes. Or, you can set it to no and another box will appear that lets you define the client address pool.

QOS causes wired to have very low download bandwidth

I have a single wired HTPC on my LAN that we rarely use to access the internet. I noticed the other night that it could only download at 5 Mbps. Tried changing cables, ports on the switch, plugging directly into router, etc. with no joy. All of my wireless devices could download at full ISP...

RT N66U Merlin 380.62_1 PPTP VPN MAC

There's a setting in Network Scanner to get the router to report the actual device MAC instead of just the MAC of the router port. Go to Options -> Program Options -> Additional tab -> enable "Router SNMP MIB query". I use it over VPN to get info from remote client sites and it works great...

    OpenVPN in AP mode

In simple terms, AP mode basically turns the device into a wireless switch. All other functions are handled at the gateway, just like they are if you plug a network cable into a normal switch.

2 Questions RE: Google Domains and rootfs size

I expanded the rootfs on mine by installing the stock ASUS firmware, v 376.3626 which I downloaded from here: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/wireless/RT-AC68U/FW_RT_AC68U_30043763626.zip?_ga=1.98421983.1346884498.1473784618

Is there a way to save Traffic Analyzer data from RAM?

Thank you, Capt. Obvious. ;) RAM contents will always be lost in a crash or power removal, but that is not the point of this discussion. I just wasn't sure if there was scripting behind the reboot button to force a data save before the router reboots, when the save location is to a physical...

Is there a way to save Traffic Analyzer data from RAM?

Awesome to know. I'm more impressed with your firmware every day. :) Is the data currently in RAM just going to have to be sacrificed?

Is there a way to save Traffic Analyzer data from RAM?

I had read that to mean that none of the data that is already saved to the disk from previous saves would be preserved. For example, if the last save took place 23 hours ago, will the router automagically save that 23 hours of data before rebooting? I was thinking that the Save Frequency...

Is there a way to save Traffic Analyzer data from RAM?

I've had a new RT-AC68U running for just over a week on 380.61 and just updated to 380.62, using the default save-to-ram setting for the traffic analyzer. Is there a way to capture this data and move it to a flash drive so that the data isn't lost on reboot of the router? Also, is it possible...

Problem of disconnection with my provider: how show its ?

Check out a product called smoke ping. It will show you when your connection is dead or struggling. Did you see the problem before you installed the beta software on your router?

    OpenVPN Client wont connect

I was having the same messages in my logs when trying to connect via OpenVPN. Here's how I got it working for me: http://forums.smallnetbuilder.com/showpost.php?p=109528&postcount=11 I don't know why, as UDP worked great on my old WRT54G with Tomato. My ASUS with Merlin wanted TCP. ???

How to implement secure VPN authentication?

Found my mistake. Listing it here just in case future searches run across my error messages in this post. Protocol was set to UDP on the VPN Details screen. I changed it to TCP and then also edited my .ovpn file and changed udp to tcp and then the magic happened. :) Installing the Merlin...

How to implement secure VPN authentication?

I just upgraded from an ancient WRT54G with Tomato, to an ASUS RT-N66R with Merlin. I'm going through the process of setting up OpenVPN myself and ran across this post. You'll find info about creating and using certificates here...
