Is firmware reinstallation in recovery mode deeper than on the web interface?

It comes down to, is there malware that can survive an Asus firmware update/flash using the Asus Firmware Restoration tool? https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1000814/

confirmed ongoing bug 2+years in AC and AX-86u routers

Probably isn't related if one isn't using AiMesh. Threw it out anyway just in case something in that discussion tickles someone's memories into suggesting other possible causes or fixes. To know if this is a real bug since others apparently cannot reproduce it; more testing would need to be...

confirmed ongoing bug 2+years in AC and AX-86u routers

Digging through some search returns yields this discussion from last year involving AiMesh. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/guest-network-on-aimesh-node-has-access-to-lan-on-aimesh-router.84941/

Yes. One of the guest clients was a Android cellphone using File Manager+ and Ping apps. Another guest client was a Win 11 laptop PC using Windows File Explorer and command line ping. The main LAN connected NAS was a old WD My Cloud device that is not setup with any private password protected...

New models to be introduced with 3006.102.2

Are you sure you are running Asus-Merlin firmware and not the stock Asus 3.0.0.6.102? Currently the GT-AX6000 is not supported by the Asus-Merlin 3006.102.x firmware. Only the RT-BE96U, GT-BE98_PRO, RT-BE88U and RT-BE86U are supported by the Asus-Merlin 3006.102.x firmware. The GNuton fork of...

confirmed ongoing bug 2+years in AC and AX-86u routers

Did a very quick and dirty test with a RT-AC68U running 386.14. No AiMesh or AP nodes. Hard factory reset the router and did basic initial setup. No scripts installed. Used same password for Wireless Guest networks both main LAN WiFi and Guest Network Wifi. Setup Guest Network WiFi #1 both...

confirmed ongoing bug 2+years in AC and AX-86u routers

As you indicated perhaps you should upload a screen shot of your settings. Both Guest Network and Wireless General. (ETA: redacting sensitive information) Also spell out your network layout. Are you using AiMesh, AP nodes or anything like that? Or do you have have one single router active? What...

    Release ASUS RT-BE88U Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_33928 (2024/10/09)

Yes, occasionally there will be a delay from a few hours to a day or more between when the router update channel has the firmware update and when Asus's various support website country specific pages for a specific router model will have a link to manually download the firmware update. While...

    Release RT-AX86U Pro Version 3.0.0.6.102_34319 09OCT24 (2024/10/16 ?)

Correct. This was mentioned in previous posts and its something that routinely happens. Asus occasionally releases a firmware to the router update channel but waits a few hours to a day or so before releasing or propagating that update to their various website/web pages for manual download...

    [ 3006.102 alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Several of the scripts, particularly those who's developers (Jack Yaz for example) are no longer actively developing them, need manual update(s) by other developers who fixed them, and typically in some cases that fix isn't pulled using the AMTM update method. Generally those manual updates are...

Migrating/Upgrade From AX86U to AX86U Pro, Maintaining Settings Assumptions

If you search the site you'll find this question raised many times. Exporting one router model's settings via CFG and importing them into a different router model. The opinions are mixed. Some do so without issue, others have issues. Cannot find the exact discussion off hand but there was one...

confirmed ongoing bug 2+years in AC and AX-86u routers

To clarify, are you indicating you can only browse the other Network Shares on that Guest WiFi Network? Or are you indicating you can browse Network Shares across ALL the networks, both Guest WiFi Networks and main wired LAN and main WiFi LAN? Have you tried enabling Set AP Isolated under...

    [ 3006.102 alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Yes. There are updates to a number of Add-On scripts that had issues introduced by recent Asus-Merlin firmware's. See the Add-On subforum for more on those addon script updates. Most if not all the affected addon scripts have been updated to fix those issues. Certain scripts, as @Martinski...

Disabled 2.4 Band, SSID still broadcasting...

@mkflyers2k, welcome to the forum. Not exactly sure what you are indicating with your screen shot by necroposting that screen shot several times without additional explanation to a three year old discussion. The OP at the time (2021) was using a RT-AC86U with Merlin 384.19. The RT-AC86U does...

Pc connected with cable in Aimesh with gt-ax6000 as node, lose connection after a while (hours).

To go along with this, on the Realtek driver link page posted above several of the Windows drivers say "Not Support Power Saving". One may need to choose and install a different Realtek driver if using the non support power saving driver.

Crystal ball - aka which router is likely gonna make it for a while

For now one can use the stock ASUS RT-AX88U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_33320 (2024/09/27) if they want to try out (i.e. essentially be a beta tester for) ASUSWRT 5.0 features. PS: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asus-rt-ax88u-pro-firmware-version\-3-0-0-6-102_33320-2024-09-27.91990/

Crystal ball - aka which router is likely gonna make it for a while

@Phantomski, to add some context to what Tech9 has indicated; in case you didn't see RMerlin's recent posts starting on page 5 in the New models to be introduced with 3006.102.2 discussion. When asked about AX Pro models support in that thread. And a follow up to a reply on that quoted post...
