    NTP Time Settings

    Most stable version for wifi

IMHO, 35-4 SDK5 has the best stability and reliability. Speed wise, it is able to give me my link speed of 57/11. Before I started to tweak linux's settings, my uptime was 190 days approximately with no drops or disconnections.

NTP does not work in asuswrt

Ok, figured out why it didn't work. Apparently the file has to have the name of the user name that you use to log on to the router. After observing the router's time keeping, I determined that the time goes off very quickly. After a 24-hour period, it can be off by as much as 3 seconds...

NTP does not work in asuswrt

Hrm, after setting this up, it appears that cron doesn't seem to be executing the job. Need to look into it some more.

I have problems with wifi settings! What settings do you use in wifi?

Hiding your SSID is the single best way to secure your network from hackers. If you entered your SSID into your wireless clients correctly it should never give you problems.

NTP does not work in asuswrt

After reading this thread I just put this together to update the time at midnight everyday to keep things running on the correct time: METHOD 1: In the directory location /jffs a file with the same name as the login, which I will refer to as $NAME: 0 0 * * * ntpclient -s -h...

    RT-N66U Dark Knight

Turn off QoS. With a 90Mb/s connection, you should not even need this turned on. The firmware I recommend for the N66 is the 35-4 SDK5 merlin firmware. Its stable, reliable and has good performance, albeit some features are not working properly which you may or may not need to use.

RT-N66U lost WiFi 2.4G after running 374.43 for 7 days and 20 hours

    Yeah. 1. Download 35-4 SDK5 2. Flash 35-4 SDK5 3. ??? 4. Profit

    RT-N66W Wireless Keeps Dropping

This might actually be your problem. Flash to 35-4 SDK5. IMHO, this is the best firmware for stability and reliability.

    RT-AC66U vs. RT-N66U vs. ??

IMHO, the only future proofing you would only need is IPv6. The numbers that Asus and all other manufacturers use to sell their routers to you are only possible to attain when every bit of hardware you have are also the latest and greatest and most expensive. So only if you have a lot of money...

Switched from Merlin's latest to latest Asus, stopped issues...

So you'd rather try each and every firmware that comes out hoping that either Asus or Merlin gets it right? 35-4 SDK5 is the firmware I use because its stable and reliable. Up and running for almost 3 months now with no drops on either wireless bands. IPv6 works out of the box with little...

Switched from Merlin's latest to latest Asus, stopped issues...

Newest isn't always the best. You have to experiment to find out which firmware version works best for your environment. Yes, everybody wants the latest and greatest. Yes, everybody wants the maximum possible speed. But, at what cost? Stability? Reliability? Features? Security? Find the...

    Asus Merlin uptime

    152d 21h 54m on 35-4 SDK5 myself.

    RT-N66U

Greater range comes with a cost and the latest firmware isn't always the best. For reliability and stability, I use the 35-4 SDK5 firmware. Been running 138 days 10 hours no problems whatsoever.

    RT-N66U Dropping 2.4ghz connections

I have seen this problem, except on the 5GHz band. After a few hours of connection, devices would no longer stay connected to the 5GHz band and would instead connect to the 2.4GHz band. Any firmware above 35-4 SDK5 exhibited this behavior regardless of wireless settings. With 35-4 SDK5, all...

    Turning Router Off @ Night

I would only turn it off for security reasons, otherwise it stays on. Its power drain is small compared to a computer.

    Turing on or off IPv6?

If your ISP has IPv6 running, I say go for it. Better to find out now what you need to do in order to get IPv6 going, than later when the transition occurs and you have to figure out what you need to do.

RT-N66 - high latency to router

I would check the physical cables. Make sure the port isn't wiggly. After that, if it still acts up, do a full factory reset and configure everything from scratch.
