    Remote connection with CG-NAT

The common technique is that your smart devices in France will have created a connection with a server, and they'll do just enough to keep that connection alive. Then when you log in, you'll either log in traversing that server (acting as a proxy) or the server will notify the remote device to...

Should connecting to routers be this difficult ? GT-AX6000 set as AP & ISP router (unwanted redirect).

@jaizan do you by any chance use Vodafone's DNS and have their SecureNet set up? VF's SecureNet is frankly far more trouble than it's worth blocking access to far more than it should. If this is the case, you might just want to try the Asus router again, but change the DNS settings! *In...

Will Add-on's be affected by Google's switch from Chrome Manifest v2 to Manifest v3?

I think anyone who hasn't previously tried the alternative browsers but is becoming aware of the change to how ad-blocing is going to work will be looking for solutions. So if you find something that presents itself as a solution, that may well be where you look, until you discover that...

ROG Rapture GT-AX6000 Drops Arduino ESP8266 connections on 2.4 GHz

We'll probably need to know what the router is, as it could be an issue with one particular model. However, I'd suspect that many users on here are using multiple ESP devices including the 8266 and not experiencing any more problems than with any device that is hidden away, sometimes in metal...

    GT-AX6000 power supply

Flipped image because the one in situ is upside down... Top is the adapter for the GT-AX6000, bottom is the adapter for a defunct HP Laptop. They are the same adapter. I believe there is an Acer laptop in use elsewhere in the house that also uses the exact same adapter.

Standard Power & 2 New Hardware Ver for BE98 Pro

I have neighbours with SKY Broadband and their "minis". The idea of targeting these things is just so appealing!

Access AX88U Web GUI remotely using Instant Guard vs port forwarding

Instant Guard is a useful tool, but there are times when you'll be better off using a full-blown VPN. Most of my usage comes when I'm on holiday, and I'm looking to tunnel family data for security reasons, which often means running my phone as an access point. If I need more than this I have...

Real life utility of SoC speed and RAM size in routers

Yup, the RK3588 SoCs such as the NanoPC-T6 from FriendlyElec are marketed in part as being a router replacement using their own FriendlyWRT. But I had my board for roughly 8 months before FriendlyElec managed to create a stable (at the point of install) Ubuntu image, so I'm a little edgy about...

Real life utility of SoC speed and RAM size in routers

Personally, it was something of an experiment. It's capable of being used that way so I had it running off an SD card not of the EMMC (or SSD). At a future point I'm more likely to head towards a more serious device for the router than down the homebrew route.

Real life utility of SoC speed and RAM size in routers

I would honestly have thought that any sensibly specced low end mini-PC from the last 4 or 5 years would be powerful enough not to cope with a Gigabit broadband connection. My NanoPC-T6 8 core ARM based SBC running FriendlyWRT is more than powerful enough to keep up with my own 1Gb broadband -...

    Binding

You might do better to use the more capable device as the main router. I'm not sure that it will cure the issue that you are seeing, but it would certainly be my starting point!

Wifi ax 2.4G real life speed vs Wifi n 2.4G

Interestingly I've just performed a couple of 2.4GHz speedtests on my laptop (not the fastest WiFi device on our network). See: 2.4GHz/20 AX https://www.speedtest.net/result/16720986009 2.4GHz/20 N https://www.speedtest.net/result/16720998609 *There is other streaming activity on the network...

Just out of curiosity, what are you hoping to gain by using UU?

Philips Hue Bridge triggers performance notice

It's just reporting the fact that the SoC in the Phillips Hue Bridge runs its LAN port at 100Mbps. The router isn't smart enough to know that the device isn't capable of anything more. If I have my 2024 Samsung TV plugged directly into the router it does the exact same thing. So I guess the...

    Asus rt-ax86u pro 160Mhz

Yup just me I guess, dunno if it's the seaport, airport, or monitoring station that kicks in here! Still, it's better than being on the outskirts of Rugby (military) Radio station while that was still in full use.

    Asus rt-ax86u pro 160Mhz

Unfortunately, the 5GHz band our routers can use, also have other regulatory uses - such as weather radar at airports - that take president. For our routers to not interfere with those other regulatory uses we have DFS (Dynamic Frequency Selection) which steers our WiFi away from frequencies...

Asus Router hack that survives flashing

If problems are detected after the router has been flashed and shortly after your WAN IP has been changed, then it's usual that the attack vector is not the router (though old firmware may be allowing an attack to pass through), but more likely a compromised device on your network. Be aware...

    European WiFi 7 Devices

Do you need this functionality right now? In the last couple of months my household has gone from having on 5GHz majority of AC devices, for literally a couple of weeks to more AX devices, and now more BE devices. I'm not intending to upgrade the router yet though, as there really is little...

Asus Router hack that survives flashing

It might be worthwhile explaining what it is you are seeing that makes you think the router is hacked (just using Quad 9 makes some think they are seeing an MITM attack). In addition to it being a device that won't have seen a security patch for nearly a decade, it could be a different device...
