Bragging rights. Or a new AWS-competitor startup in a garage :p

    fiber vs cable

Which is the preferred technology for an Internet connection, fiber or cable? I think fiber usually offers symmetric UL/DL, but that is not an issue for me. Why would someone prefer one technology over the other? (price not being a factor)

DNSSEC DNS on RT-AX86U Pro causing some websites not to load properly

I had DNSSEC support on and DoT, the Comcast site would not load. I toggled DNSSEC off and now it loads. This has been an interesting discussion; I appreciate everyone's input.

    VPN conFusion - Internet block

Yeah, I'm trying to see the logic, but I don't see anything logical yet :) I'm not clear on what you mean above. I think you are saying if the device is enabled below the 'all devices' toggle, then that device will get the Internet connection. Well, they are all toggled off but all have...

What the heck does the device list mean under VPN Fusion > Internet? a) why only (3) devices are shown, but (4) are currently using the Internet b) all (3) devices are shown toggled off - what does that mean? (Is it for when "Apply to all devices" is off, like when I don't want all devices to...

firewall confusion - two firewalls for IPv4?

Well, after I created this thread, I see a post I did not see when I did a search before. https://www.snbforums.com/threads/ipv4-firewall-port-forwarding-appear-to-be-the-same-thing-on-asuswrt.88210/post-882614 "The Firewall - General > IPv4 Inbound Firewall Rules blocks all incoming traffic...

firewall confusion - two firewalls for IPv4?

On the Firewall > General page, there is "Enable Firewall" and "Enable IPv4 inbound firewall rules". What does the latter do? It almost looks like port forwarding, but what do you do with only a source IP + port? The RT-AX86U Pro manual doesn't mention the 'IPv4 inbound' firewall.

News Zyxel Networks launches all-in-one router with comprehensive cybersecurity to support smaller businesses and teleworkers

But what does "secure" mean to them, and it is any more "secure" than any other AIO? It seems all of the net device manufacturers have many vulnerabilities. How they respond to them may be a different story. And if you can manage it from the cloud, well, you've already reduced security.

Announcing the ROG Rapture GT-BE19000 Tri-Band WiFi 7 Gaming Router

Is it Windows 11 Ready? 🤣 Seriously, though, is 10Gbps ever needed to the house? If your house is a data center, I guess.
