Upgrading from wifi 5 to wifi 6 and looking for suggestions

Running GLinet firmware and its very stable. Both Openwrt 21 and Openwrt 24, not at the same time obviously. I tried official Openwrt firmware 23.x, but I ran out of patience setting it up and gave up. Since its running openwrt, there are many many packages that can be installed directly from...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.14 is now available for AC models

Found one issue with firmware 14_2 on Asus AC68U. When unplugging an external drive from USB 3 port, the router will freeze and requires to be power cycled. But it happens randomly. Only way to avoid this issue is to log in to the router and click on the option to safely disconnect the hard...

    GL.iNet GL-MT6000 or Asus RT-AX8800U

MT6000 is a great router. Glinet have stable firmware for Openwrt 21 and openwrt 24. Router has great support by openwrt community as well if you don't want to use Glinet firmware, but requires more tinkering. Even out of the box GL router works great and has a ton of customizations because you...

Upgrading from wifi 5 to wifi 6 and looking for suggestions

Take a looking at Glinet GL-MT6000. Its currently on sale for $122. 6 lan ports, two of them are 2.5Gbps. Arm8 CPU, 4x4 MIMO on both bands, great support by Glinet and by Openwrt community. Bought mine two weeks ago and I won't be buying another router for many years.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.14 is now available for AC models

Its been two days on AC68U and no issues. GUI is much snappier, even when CPU is maxed out. "Knock knock on the wood."

Looking for feedback: Anyone considering AiCloud important to them?

Not once since it was introduced many years ago.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.14 is now available for AC models

Asus AC68U, updated from 386.13 to 386.14_2 and everything seems to be working well. Accessing hard drive attached to the router is quicker and much faster than Asus OEM firmware.

Need help with Transmission in OpenWRT.

I bought MT6000 Flint 2 and its running great. Had to return the small travel routers; Slate AX and Beryl AX.

Buyer Beware! Stay away from Asus ExpertWifi EBR63.

Asus makes great products. Once they get all the bugs worked out in the near future, EBR63 will be an excellent budget device. But in the meantime the firmware and GUI needs a lot of work.

Quick review of GL.iNet GL-AXT1800 / Slate AX.

Well yeah, there is almost no EMI or RF interference between various components on MT6000, because they are also more spaced out on a PCB. Portable router can be better, but you'll have to throw better components at it and raise the price. But people love it because its portable, it works...

Quick review of GL.iNet GL-AXT1800 / Slate AX.

My setup is simple, single person with 4 devices, small apartment no issues with coverage. But the cpu can take a beating, i've thrown everything at it at the same time; torrenting on my PC while torrenting on router, moving files from the routers attached usb drive and copy back at the same...

Quick review of GL.iNet GL-AXT1800 / Slate AX.

I picked up MT6000 Flint 2 and its a fantastic router! No interference of any kind and I can copy files over WIFI to the usb drive that's attached to the router, at 60 MB/s all day long from a 10 year old laptop. It even runs Transmission client really well for torrenting.

Quick review of GL.iNet GL-AXT1800 / Slate AX.

Yeah, you might be right, but I love the smile size of the Slate AX, and no one else has anything that powerful in a such a small package. I'll wait till Slate 7 gets a couple of reviews or at least official specs.

Quick review of GL.iNet GL-AXT1800 / Slate AX.

I have some bad news. I had to return the router. The interference between 5Ghz band and USB port would come back much worse after about an hour and that's my second one. I would have to put a lot more copper layers and that might not work. And that would cause 5Ghz to have really low speeds. It...

Need help with Transmission in OpenWRT.

Update. I got it working after performing a clean install, but two hours later the speeds went back down the drain again. Im guessing either OpenWrt 21 is outdated or Transmission app needs a lot of work. When I download torrents on my laptop, I see +2,000 seeds and connect to a hundred under...
