One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back. ~Carl SaganI live just south of your border, yet I find myself cheering for Canadians and your beautiful country.
The current situation reminds me of this quote from Plato: "Strange times are these in which we live when old and young are taught falsehoods in school. And the person that dares to tell the truth is called at once a lunatic and fool”

The US politics is extremely polarized. For various reasons. What you are seeing is a pendulum swinging back to the right after that pendulum swung to the left for four years. Trump for all his faults, and there are many, is a business man not a politician. He operates by using the "big ask" to negotiate. His tariff are a negotiation tactic. Its a way of getting people to the table when they otherwise wouldn't. Political polarization exists in other countries just as it does in the US, and everyone is seeing and reacting based on their emotions which is colored and influenced by the information (often biased) they consume and the echo chambers people typically live in these days.Anyways politics give me a headache trying to understand the US from the outside. I don’t get it.
