If you want to whitelist the domains that serve ads on the androidpolice.com website, you might as well uninstall AB-Solution.
My ad-blocker does not work on a per domain basis not-to-block.
Rather it blocks the domains that serve the ads, globally for every content that goes through your router to your devices.
The Android Police Website uses common ads domains. White listing these domains would mean you'd practically disable ad-blocking.

Hence, there's no use to add androidpolice.com to the whitelist and AB declined to do so because that domain is not blocked in AB.
Oh I see, makes sense now. Thanks for explanation ;) and will keep Ab-Solution installed btw.

The gaps may or may not be gone. That depends on how the ad would be served.
In the old days (a few years ago) ads were mostly images. Replacing that image with a 1x1 pixel image (hence the name) usually removed the gaping hole.
Nowadays, ads are served dynamically through scripts and may no longer only be an image. The remnants are still there, but the ad is gone.

Thanks for clearing that up :)

Just installed your script too :)

How does your script differ from Ya-Malware? Doesn't Ya-Malware just block ip's? I saw your app removed ya-malware? Wouldn't it be beneficial to have both databases?

AB-Solution does not remove other scripts. What makes you think so?
Mine's blocking ads from the inside out, while the firewall scripts block malicious IP's or ranges thereof (mostly) from the outside in.

Would it be possible to include the adblocking lists from uBlock Origin's plugin for chrome/firefox?

From updating the ad lists script:

"

" additionally removing ya-malware-block.urls entries
in blocking file, ya-malware-block is in use"

That's just making sure, the dowload domains that script uses are not blocked by AB.

Just installed your script too :)
Then by now, especially when you take a peek at the stats by launching

Code:
./ab-solution.sh

you will probably be wondering how you ever lived without it until now and realize that from now on, it will most likely be the first thing you'll be installing, whenever you need to reinstall router and start fresh. '

Congrats on a (nearly) ad-free internet, thanks to the voluntary efforts of @thelonelycoder and his hard work for the community. AB-Solution is unrivalled when it comes to ad-blocking, staying many miles ahead of it's competitors, if any :p
And yes, I'm a fanboy

You're welcome. Ping me if you have questions.
Finally came around to give AB-Solution a try... but unfortunately, it appears like it does not work for my configuration.
The router I am testing on has two VPN Clients, and yes, both have routing rules.
After following your guidelines and with both clients DNS set to 'Strict', I'd notice that when running a DNS leak test, the DNS servers set under the dhcp-option DNS..., of the first VPN Client custom configuration, were also appearing as the DNS servers for the second VPN Client, even though it had its own dhcp-option DNSs...
Any thoughts?

Thank you!

Hi, thelonelycoder.

I wanted to know if there was a chance to install a BETA version. I really like to test.

Thank you for your precious work.

King Regards.

Let me get back to you on that.

Hello, thelonelycoder. I just want to thank you for your work. I used to need an adblocker of some sort on almost all of my devices, but now I've completely delegated that task to my router. I just have one question. Is there a way to get rid of the spaces left where ads used to be located ?

One more question: I can easily edit the whitelist.txt file using a GUI txt editor. Is there a way to quickly process the new information instead of doing it the usual way ?

Hi kvic and thelonelycoder,

Question regarding syslog entries of pixelserv.
I see entries like:
pixel.facebook.com _.facebook.com missing
cert_.facebook.com generated and saved
I would like to exclude all pixelserv entries from the syslog
(as a workaround, since every syslog entry - however irrelevant - happens to wake my NAS, acting as syslog server, but thats another story, and the actual problem)
If I read http://pixelserv-ip/servstats, logging seems to be disabled:
log 0 logging access to syslog (0=disabled 1=enabled)
If I read /tmp/mnt/entware/adblocking/.config/ab-solution.cfg, I see:
psLoggingState="off"
However, I still see a few pixelserv syslog entries.
Suggestions (other than not using the NAS as syslog server) are greatly appreciated.

Give me some time to replicate your setup and see if I can duplicate the issue. I'll get back with you soon.

Update: Yes, I am leaking DNS on the router with Policy Rules. I did not even have to turn on the second client. I have no DNS leaks with the router set to All Traffic. I am currently on 380.67 Beta 2. I'll report this in the 380.67 Beta Testing Thread.
