Is it safe to up the TX power to 90 or 100mw?

Also, can you explain why they allow increasing the TX power put o 200mw? I read somewhere that there is no actual increase in power output if you put in a figure over 100mw

Hi polar! There is no unsafe power setting that will harm your router. The hardware chipset has physical limits built into it that will prevent harm. The Wifi drivers in the firmware dynamically control the power output depending on environmental conditions. So the driver can change the power output on the fly and disregard your settings. When the RT-AC66U first came out the power setting did have an effect on signal strength but some driver update a long time ago eliminated most of the control. I set mine to 120mw and that works well with a slight signal boost above the default 80mw. Any setting above 120 does not seem to have an effect.
