How long does it typically take for an Asus router to go from the initial unveil to it being actually available for purchase? I kind of don't understand what the point is of unveiling a new product, generating a bunch of hype around it and then it taking months for it to come to market after all the hype basically dies down...

I have my eye on the GT-BE19000 for my next router as it looks like it will be a second gen WiFi 7 router getting released after IEEE final approval and has all the features ready and out of the box including MLO. The only thing I'm not sure of yet is whether or not it will get merlin which is neither here nor there but for the purpose of this question, it was announced almost 3 months ago and still not even a peep on when it will be available.

I was reading around it was suppose to be released the end of 2023 or early 2024. Guess it's delayed.

Isn't GT-BE19000 just the gaming marketing version of existing RT-BE19000 aka RT-BE96U? What's so much different in hardware?

I don't particularly care about the gaming nonsense. But I would consider it like a rev 2 of it since presumably it was made after the spec was basically finalized vs the BE96U which has been on the market for 800 years now. The only thing we know for sure is it will come with firmware that supports all wifi 7 features and they demonstrated it using MLO at Computex. So if nothing else at the very least it should have more mature firmware on release.

It varies. Can be weeks, can be months. In some cases it took over 6 months.
That's so absurd, what is their marketing team thinking like ffs why not wait to announce crap until it's ready? Common sense would dictate that things would be up for sale within 1-2 weeks of something being announced so they can capitalize on the hype they generate for a product. By letting things fizzle out like this the only people that will buy the product are those like me that are already keen on buying it and would have with or without an announcement... Then again if no merlin I probably won't buy it anyway lol. Here's hoping it's using a broadcom chip and you're down to support it.

End of 2023? Are you talking about the BE96U? Because the one I'm talking about was only just announced at computex a couple of months ago.

BE96U which has been on the market for 800 years now

In this case Asus had 800 years time to implement what was initially missing or not working on RT-BE96U and what you'll be getting more is perhaps just new red ROG GUI with the gaming nonsense you don't care about. Seems like the same router with different marketing to me.
