New Around Here
Speeds are fine, everything acts fine, i can download things and it will never "disconnect" but streaming video? just stops out of nowhere, online gaming? disconnects nearly constantly. I've tried a beta firmware i found on here, didn't really change anything, just made the 5 ghz radio slower but same issue.

This is pissing me off beyond belief because the 5 ghz radio is far and away the fastest of the 2 bands if i could get it working right.

Anyone have this or the 87U and and having this shirt?

What clients are you using?
Make sure your drivers are up to date.

Android, and the nic is a USB linksys on my desktop. It actually does this crap on both clients when connected to 5ghz. Occasionally if i stay on the 5ghz long enough it will go insane and not let me connect and then actually shut the radio off as the 5 ghz stops showing up for a while and then it's magically back later after it restarts i presume.

Everything is as up to date as possible.

Have you tried the obligatory nvram reset AKA "restore default settings" in the Administration tab?

This should be done virtually everytime you change the firmware.

Not yet. I just realized there's an actual section dedicated to these routers, can i have this moved there?

Is the 87R still within the return window? Because for a $300 unit, this stuff should just work. For that price, a $50 WNR3500Lv2 running Tomato and a $250 enterprise WAP would be my call all day long, but alas, hindsight is 20/20. :)

If you can't return, then how about Merlin firmware? Perhaps that has the wifi bugs ironed out enough to make your unit usable.

Best of luck.

I have the same problem. Online streaming like Netflix won't work. And Online Gaming as well... I cleared ram. And try to restore settings folsom a file that I had save. And it won't hold the settings. Now I'm about to enter all settings manually. To see if it helps

Anyone have this or the 87U and and having this shirt?<br/> I believe I found the Problem. ... But long story short.... on a computer connected with a cable LAN do a firmware upgrade with the Original or STOCK Asus Firmware... That solved the problem for me... ( it got so bad that I couldn't even download a 34MB file without the conection dropping. ) Now everything is stabled on that 5ghz band. Now that everything works the way it's supposed to. I'm going to go to the Merlin - firmware one more time... to see if it was the way I uploaded the firmware. Will post the outcome. ..

Update to the latest firmware that just released yesterda then clear NVram Also you shouldn't be doing any gaming over wireless whatsoever. Always hardwire for time sensitive apps like that.

I too had issues with the 5 ghz band on my galaxy note 4 - they're now resolved. Again though, you should not be gaming over wireless.
